Advice on a trade - 16570 for 116680?

I own a 16570 explorer ii polar with 3186 movement. I've enjoyed this timepiece a lot but I find myself lusting after the SS yachtmaster ii reference 116681. Would I be crazy to flip my explorer ii for the yachtmaster ii? Obviously I would have to bring cash to the deal. I like the "bigger" look of the 116681. Other watches currently in my rotation are a Sub C Date and an IWC Portuguese Chrono 3714-45.

Any opinions would be appreciated!

Depends on you. Personally, if never sell my Explorer or Explorer II. If I needed to flip something, it'd be the Sub.

I personally like the look and versatility of the Exp II, but if you really like the YMII then I say go for it! I just don't know if it's really worth the difference in cash.

Unfortunately I don't own one, but I see the 5 digit Exp II as one of those watches that are so unpretentious that some owners consider getting rid of it for something else, but I believe it will be missed for the same characteristic that lead to the sale. Being unpretentious is a virtue.

I traded my black 16570 several months ago. I wouldn't have traded if it had been a white one. IMHO, the polar 16570 is a really great piece, and I would trade it for a YM.

Is that a false arm. It's at a very jaunty angle in that photo. Lol.

I am not really a fan on the Exp 2 but I do like the look of the Y/master.

Flip.

If you mostly wear suits I would flip it for something more versatile. That watch looks out of place with a suit.

That's quite an unusual pair to be trading, but yes I would, that Exp doesn't do much for me, even in that great suit pic, which the 3714 IWC would look much better with I know.

I'm not a big fan of two tones, I would for a DSSD or Blue is what you want is a "bigger" watch.

Big fan of the YM2 here. But...I wouldn't flip the EXP2, especially if you've enjoyed it. Add, don't flip.

Not a chance. Keep the explorer II. The YM II is a gigantic watch with a complication that is useless to most people. The Exp II on the other hand has the most useful set of features and is a sensible size. Also saw a few posts saying it doesn't look good with a suit. Total nonsense. I have worn my Exp II with a tux.

The Polar 3186 is a keeper and a sleeper, and much nicer-looking and more practical than the YMII, IMO.

I really like both, the YMII is a great summer watch, especially love how it looks on a blue RubberB.

I just feel like the EXII is one of the best deals in the Rolex lineup, while the YMII is very expensive for what it is and the practically of having a regatta timer. Realistically I feel like you're going to be putting up a lot of money in the trade in, for not much gain.

If you love the YMII, sure why not buy it, but I would think you'd have to want it enough to buy it outright regardless of if you trade in the EXII or not.

If you like big watch and white dial, YMII is your choice. And you wont see it everywhere in the street.
