Suggestion for first Rolex
Hey! I'd like to know what you guys think would be a good first Rolex. I want to buy one upon graduation of college/nursing school. I like the 114060 Submariner no date. The yacht-master caught my eye except it's kind of uncommon and not suitable for work for me. What do you guys think I should get? I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you!

I would say that for your first Rolex steer clear of the YM. Especially going into Nursing, that would not look good with scrubs haha.
The Submariner or maybe a DateJust would be a great first Rolex. |

If it were me, either a 116610ln or 214270

How about taking a look at a Milgauss. It's more under the radar while you're at the hospital and you don't have to worry about any magnetism around the medical machines and devices. Nobody will even know its a Rolex, unless you want them to.

Your first suggestion is the right one. Sub no date.

I'm going with a SubC no date for my first, also because the next one I have planned will have a date.

My vote would be for the 214270. Discrete yet widely appreciated by enthusiasts, highly versatile (looks great on a nato, leather, and steel, and can be worn with a suit or swim suit), important historically. As a first Rolex, it doesn't get much better.

My suggestion would be the Explorer 214270 or the Oyster Perpetual 39 (114300).
Both are elegant yet understated pieces that can be dressed up or down and are suitable for all situations. Good luck to you and enjoy the hunt.

Better ask yourself, self, "Am I going to be wearing this with a tuxedo?"
"No!" You're good to go with a Sub "Yes!" Better buy a "dress" watch and watch out the color "Sometimes?" Do what sings to you and don't worry about the snobbish folks that think you shouldn't wear a watch with a tux (Prince Harry doesn't) |

The no date is such a great watch and perfect as a first Rolex. Everyone needs a good dive watch in their lives!! My second suggestion would be a Datejust because of the variety of dial options you can choose from and that its styling is about as versatile as anything else out there.

If you like the 114060, then go for that! The Yachtmaster, while beautiful, is not nearly as versatile or tough a watch.

Sounds like you like SubND. Cannot go wrong with that watch.

Sub with date! You always need date especially working in healthcare. Taking a pulse would be so sweet with a subC date with the second hand sweeping!

Thank you guys so much for your replies! I really like the submariner date. Is this a more recognizable and good pick for a one and only watch?

As a nurse you might benefit from a watch with a 24 hour display such as a GMT-Master II or an Explorer II. So maybe a GMT-Master 116710 (BLNR would be awesome) or a 16570 Explorer II would be worth a look?
Congrats!

I'd go with the 39mm rhodium OP. Versatile piece, and freaking gorgeous
