For the Women with Rolexes, or guys who've bought them for Wives/GF
Have you bought a smaller size (31MM) and ended up wishing you had a larger size?
I'm looking to purchase my wife her first Rolex for our two year anniversary. We've had several trips to the AD and spent time on rolex.com and found the perfect dial, bezel, etc DJII that she likes. She can't decide on the size though; she feels the DJ31 is a bit small, and the DJ36 is a bit large (too bad there is no 34MM DJ). She likes the 36 more, but she's worried it will be too heavy and uncomfortable for daily use. Its a little hard to tell in the AD how it will feel without being sized and wearing it for more than a few minutes. Any ladies with small wrists here wear the 36? How does it feel? |

My wife confirmed she likes her watches a little on the larger side - which we've established is in the 34 up to 36mm range.

My wife is 5'10" and built like a tank but wears a 31mm TT Lady DJ. It's all about how she feels wearing it.

Hi,
i had the same dilemma only weeks ago. i wore my Tag aquaracer daily. It is a 27mm and i loved the size. I was looking into buying either a 29mm YM or 32mm Breitling galactic. Long story short, once i tried on the 37mm YM and the 36 galactic, I was in love. True is, i'd go home after trying them on and think they were too big, just to go back the next day and retry that 37mm and say, it's perfect. 4th day i bought it. A week later and i love everything about it. The size is perfect. Some pics here, page 1 and 3 i think https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=555276 That being said, 36 won't feel heavy after the first 5 minutes :) |

My wife loves her 26mm. She's 4'11 and tiny though. She has other watches that range from there to 40mm and never wears anything but the Rolex. She says it's not in the way and feels it looks nice. I put a 36mm Tag Heuer on my mother and she doesn't like it very much. This is a tough question without having them decide what they want by trying a few on.

My Wife is tiny, think she wears the same clothes as our 3 year old and she wears 26-36mm no problem.

I actually got a 36mm DJ for myself, but was too small. Now my wife wears it and has recently come to love it. She's tiny and has tiny wrists, had to take out every link and close clasp as much as possible, but it looks perfect on her IMO.

My wife didn't like the smaller watches
She couldn't decide what to have, my treat. So she negotiated the use of my Pepsi for about a year before I got her a 41mm DJ. She now loves that, I do too but looks way better on her. Pic from the beach today so it's in a right state. |

Thanks! Seems 36MM is more common on women then I thought.
here are two pics of the 36MM, and a pic of the 31MM and 36MM next to each other. Any thoughts appreciated |

That's because the majority doesn't know/care to choose the right size and follows whatever the trend is. I don't see 36 here being more popular with women, but women that buy men's watches. From you photo comparison, 36 is big for you, look how the lugs hang out over your wrist. 31 is better.

Personally, I like the one closest to your hand in this picture. I think this size fits you nicely and is not overpowering. I like the dal as well.

My wife thought exactly like yours and thought the 36 was too big and 31 was just perfect. Well, less than a year later the "31 is too small and now I need a 36." So I would advise you pick the 36 and save yourself the money of trading.

In my opinion the 31mm looks nicer. It will also be less cumbersome and more comfortable for everyday. A more versatile size as well IMO and I have access to both 31 & 36 to wear. It's all up to what she likes and is more comfortable with in the end. Most will not know if they'll regret not getting the larger size, but I know I wouldn't. I just feel that the 31mm is such a versatile size and looks beautiful on most wrist sizes.

if this was her daily piece..I would go 31mm...
she would find it "easier" to wear and the watch would see less "stress" wife works in professional sitting..her collection rangest from 26-40mm weekend she wears the Daytona..weekday she wants her 34mm

I understand the trend, but another reason i wouldn't wear men's size watch (and i'd really like a sea dweller too) is because it looks like i borrowed my husband's watch LOL

My wife wears my 36mm DJ but I think it's a little too big for her tiny wrists.

My wife is petite.
She picked out her 31mm Oyster Perpetual after thinking that the 26mm was too small. Sadly it gets little use five years later as she says it is too heavy and she has me to tell her the time. She claims to like it . . . but it makes me sad that she does not wear it more.
