Anybody ever won a lottery or major prize?

I won 500 bucks on a scratch ticket way back in 95 in Arizona, but since then
its a big zero...
I have hit the jackpot several times on slot machines ......one was 37xx.xx on a .25
machine at Salt River in AZ....a few in Laughlin NV, but most were the Native American casinos in AZ.

My mother won $1000 scratch off three times. Then again she bought three tickets a day for 20 years, not the best use of funds.....

Last month I won $450 on Keno and $125 playing a football square at a bar. I'm no serious gambler but that was my best month ever. I probably wager about $20 a month.

I have a friend at work who has a very good friend who won a couple of million dollars last year.

This guy is young, but knows how to take care of all his winnnings. He's been quite generous with some of his close friends too.

Does a win/lose situation count?
Involves a Lawyer, a doctor, loss of body parts & cash

At the risk of making absolutely everyone gag, I feel like I won the lottery when I married my wife.......other than that, I won enough money at the casino on a cruise that I paid for our entire cruise. It was the first and only time I ever seriously gambled in a casino, tho. (Isn't that always the way?)

In January 1987, Anne entered a slogan contest for the then new (and now gone) Euro Channel TV station. She thought of it as a joke because the slogan she entered was rather silly and we forgot all about it. Some evening, at 9:30 PM, the bell rang. It was the postman with a special delivery. This could only be bad news we thought but we received a thick envelope containing forms and a letter that we had won a trip on the Venice-Simplon Orient Express and that we would leave for an 8 day trip in March.

It was fantastic, we flew first class to Venice where we stayed for a day and a night before we left on the Orient Express all the way to Paris and from there on to Calais. In Calais we boarded the HoverSpeed shuttle and on the other side we boarded a classic Pullman train that brought us to London where we had dinner and a stay in a top class hotel before flying back, first class, to Amsterdam.

That was the only prize in our lives although we are playing the state- and postcode lottery for over 25 years non-stop now.

Maybe you did win the lottery. Did you ever read "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson? It is about a 10 minute read, and a classic.

The young couple living opposite apparently won £1.7million six years ago.

Why they didn't buy a bigger house with their cash and avoid having to live by reprobates like me is a puzzle.

We have a few pennies invested in premium bonds and have won our fair share of the prize pool. The payout is 4% p.a of the total investment and we are at about 6% thus far, so not too bad, tax free.

When we were looking at new houses the salesperson asked if we wanted to enter a Dell laptop drawing which I blew it off but my wife entered.....2 weeks later she was called that she had won a $1700.00 laptop......our biggest prize yet.

Our friend Wendy, who looks after our house whilst we are away, was in a syndicate that won the UK lottery. She ended up with around £70,000 and what's best is she didn't waste it on trivial items. She bought a slightly bigger house an almost new small car and maybe a couple of bottles of bubbly.

In 1998, I went with my mum to a bingo hall (in Nottingham) and played bingo with her. There's a bingo game half way through the night called "The National" and as it says, it's a game linked up between all the bingo halls in the UK.

I got all 15 numbers on my ticket in the first 26 numbers being called.... I had won the house prize for that particular hall i was in, I'd also won the area prize (East Midlands) .... those two came to £7,550. I had to sit and wait to the end of the night (another 1 hour) to find out if I'd won the National prize.... the bongo number caller came over the tannoy and said that nobody else in the whole Uk had called in less then 26 numbers and that I'd won the National prize... which was a further £100,000

£107,550 for the night
