My Second Rolex: BLNR or DJ41?

Hello,

I’ve been enjoying my Yacht-Master (Blue dial) for a few years and am looking for my second watch. I’ve narrowed it down to two choices: the GMT II BLNR or DJ41 (jubilee, fluted bezel, baton indices, dark dial (only saw Blue or Silver)). You’ll that the DJ41 pic shows diamond indices - this was just to try on the look and size of the watch).

Reasons for BLNR:
- I think this is a really cool watch, would wear it more as a daily and use my YM for relatively more dressy occasions (although really both can serve the same purpose.
- Love the ceramic bezel colours and the fact that it’s scratch resistant. I’m always a little concerned about scratching the platinum bezel on my YM so I avoid wearing it playing sports.
- GMT function is a nice complication. I may only travel to a different time zone a few times a year (and already use my iPhone to check my home time anyway) but it’s nice to have.
- I think over time the BLNR will hold its value or appreciate more than the DJ41.
- BLNR may be more versatile than DJ41. I.e. it easier to dress up with the BLNR vs dressing down with the DJ2
- Although very similar in size, the BLNR seems to fit my wrist better than the DJ41. Or it could be my imagination. My wrists are small, 6.125 inches.

Reasons for DJ41
- This is a nice, classic great-looking Rolex watch. I was deciding between getting the DJII a few years ago or the YM. Obviously I choose the YM and loved it.
- This gives me a very different look from the YM. The BLNR looks very similar to the YM except for the bezel (smooth vs straight/polished lugs notwithstanding), and same oyster bracelet.
- Related to the above point, the DJ41 can be worn for a different purpose (more formal, goes better with a suit). Usually at work I wear a golf shirt or dress shirt, and at least suit several times a year for certain functions.
- The jubilee band is eye-catching and much dressier than the oyster, IMHO.
- The fluted bezel is really nice!
- This may fly under the radar better than the BLNR. One of the appeals of the YM was that it appeared to be relatively discreet among Rolexes.

Thanks and look forward to your feedback!

BLNR all day. It's my daily beater now from a choice of 6 rolex's. Stunning watch and a stunning dial

I would personally go with DJ41. But if you think the jubilee / fluted combo will fly under the radar you are mistaken. It is definitely more eye catching than the BLNR.

If going for the GMT, I'd go LN (I know that's not one of your choices). You have blue covered with the YM. I appreciate the value retention point, but you can but a GMT LN for a relative bargain these days.

Failing that, a black dialed DJ would be a good choice and is an equally versatile watch IMO.

For me - BLNR. For you, whichever sings for you one octave higher. It seems you like both.

In your case, it seems a need for a dressier watch, DJ41 would be it.

I prefer the DJ41 for a different look. I would go with a different dial than blue, as you have that covered. I like the black or silver dial.

The DJ41 sounds like the right choice for you. I'd look st the Rhodium dial

I was absolutely set on the blnr being my next watch.

Not sure what happened, but ended up with a DJ41.

Jubilee is very special. Couldn't be happier.

Oh yeah.

Tons of blnr pictures on the forum. Need some more dj41

White for me, but rhodium and blue are fantastic.

I would go with the Datejust, very versatile and extremely classic. You will not regret it!

The BLNR & Blue YM look like Fraternal Twins ! Now you desire another Blue ?
For God's Sake , step outside your comfort zone, be bold and get the DJ41 in any dial colour except Blue !

DJ41 based on what you've already got and the fact I'm one of the few who isn't a BLNR fan in the least.

I have a YM and would get a ceramic bezel with it, prefer not to have two PM bezels you have to worry about it. I got the LVc for more differentiation to the YM.

Both....as they are both amazing pieces.

PS: I'm not a diamond man so I picked the classic TT silver dial.

To pair with a YM I'd go with the DJ41. But if it were me, I'd reach out to Thanh Do, send him your YM and some money, and the next day get the BLNR and DJ41.
