2017 Railmaster Inbound

So only after seeing pics on Saturday of the 2017 non le Railmaster, I now have one on it's way which should arrive tomorrow on my 25th birthday. First Omega for me and almost certainly my most impulsive purchase too

Happy Birthday! It is a fine watch and that's good that you are starting at an early age. That watch will be a timeless classic your entire life.

I went to my local Omega dealer to see it (LE) and possibly buy one, but walked out with the Speedmaster Professional (Hesalite Moonwatch) on an impulse. I'm still in awe of the Railmaster. I did not get it cause it's too similar to my other watch Rolex Explorer.

Congrats! First post I’ve seen on here or the Omega forum. Lot of negativity about this piece on the Omega forum, which really surprised me. I absolutely love it, so please include lots of pictures.

I own the older model Railmaster and an Explorer. I think they are different enough to have in the same collection.

Currently deciding between the Explorer I or the Railmaster 1957... Tried on the none LE Railmaster last weekend and it is a very nice watch, quick a bit chunkier than the LE.

So the watch arrived yesterday as expected. Ordered at just before 3pm on the 8th and it was on my wrist by 11am the next day. Fantastic service from Berry’s jewellers for any of the UK lot looking to for another AD/jeweller, can’t sing their praises enough. I haven’t had a great deal of time to take proper pictures due to work/birthday/illness but I’ll post an on the wrist shot and lime shot at the very least.

My initial impression is that Omega have absolutely nailed this watch. Proportions wise, it fits much better in my dainty wrist than my ETA Black Bay and the brushed finish really does hammer home the fact that this is a watch that will stand up to my usage. I’m not one to “mother” my watches - bumps, dings and scratches as well as exposure to strong electromagnetic fields are a daily possibility in my line of work and I have total piece of mind that the railmaster will live up to that. It also looks like a classy little number for a sports watch much like the Explorer 1 and it’s not a particularly thick case either.

The dial when it catches light really does stand out and it can really change it’s appearance based on the angle and intensity of the light in question. The vintage lume is darker than what I expected but you do get some decent light at night if it had had a chance to charge up properly.

My only real gripe is the butterfly clasp which can be a bit fiddly to secure and it's lack of a micro adjustment feature. I had four full size links and a half link removed and the half link will have to make its way back on the bracelet for more comfort. Luckily, my girlfriend gifted me the chance to have a bespoke watch strap made by Jean Rousseau for my Black Bay but this will now be for the Railmaster instead.

Despite all the negativity that I have also seen on Omega forum, I’m glad I took the plunge.
£3680 is definitely a lot of money but boy do you get a lot of watch in return.

Firstly , Happy 25th birthday & a great choice of watch too . Been eagerly awaiting some decent pictures to see what the new non LE Railmaster looks like in the flesh, & it doesn't disappoint . I might just venture into Omega land again due to the new Railmaster ,as I can see this watch on my wrist this year .

Thank you very much very much for the birthday wishes! It really is a great “under the radar” piece and I certainly hope you join me in the railmaster club this year. I’m chuffed with my first Omega and it certainly won’t be my last

It’s funny how you can go from not being in the market for a new watch, to seeing some pictures online and having it on your wrist in a matter of days. I didn’t even wait to see it in the flesh, I just knew it was the watch for me!

I agree. I am currently looking at this one as well. I think an explorer will come first in the near future as I haven't seen this one in person.

Absolutely loving this piece, its stolen a lot of wrist time my Black Bay and it garnered less attention at work which isn’t a bad thing in my eyes. Wears a lot smaller than I expected it to given that the case size is just 1mm off the Black Bay. It’s running to COSC at currently +3.8 sec a day.

My only real gripe is the butterfly clasp as it lacks a micro adjustment feature. That said I’ve been wearing it more on various NATO straps and I’ve got a bespoke leather band on the way from Jean Rousseau courtesy of my girlfriend who completely gets my growing obsession with watches.

Glad you're still enjoying it! I feel the same way about Omegas in general; the bracelets aren't quite as good as Rolex bracelets. I'd love to see some pictures on the various straps if you can.
