My first ultramarathon!

Just filled my belly with supper and beer, had a nice warm shower

I ran Crêtes de Spa, a 55km (2000m elevation) trail ultramarathon in Belgium, the Ardennes forest.
Even came quite close to the Spa Francorchamps (ran a half marathon on that track a few weeks back) circuit and heard racing sounds deep into the forest.

Had a little struggle between 30-40km but I felt great the rest of the time. Just an amazing day!

Got a nice medal, shirt and a beer at the finish.

I will continue running long solo distances and do a few trails here and there, would like to do the 2019 Zugspitz 80km ultratrail which together with the ITRA points I scored today would qualify me for the small Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (55km) race.

Amazing Bas, congratulations on your accomplishment! That is outstanding and the training and dedication you have is inspirational.

Oh, and you ran further than many drive to commute to work and back here

Epic achievement and congratulations - sheesh, I get tired even driving that far, mind you in Toronto, you'd probably win by a couple of hours with the traffic here.

Enjoy!
