Just silly sea-dweller prices!
Have you guys noticed that some second hand dealers are asking silly money (£4100+) for BNIB sea-dwellers! Is this happening where you live, does anyone know of people buying SDs at above the last list price? Thanks in advance guys and gals.

If they are available on the V which I think they are, you can understand the last of the dinosaurs being reasonably rare.

It is the last of the line - no more. Personally, I can't see paying a premium, but I understand the buyer's mentality and logic on this issue. ![]()

Would hardly call the SD a dinosaur and would not call it rare, the date letter means practically nothing in the modern day Rolex world. The SD depth rating was good enough for any human needs now or in the future.

I think it could be down to the fact no one wants the new sea dweller and so they know they can get the price because people want the last of the stock before all you can get is the white elephant deep sea

Just to point out that P series 16520 carry a chunky premium over the A series and that's purely down to the smaller numbers. The rest of the watch is identical.

Look at what happened with the 16710 GMT...the same is happening with the SD, you wait a bit and the prices will settle to where they should be.

You can still find them for less than MSRP at local AD's in the states. Those sellers are just exploiting less informed buyers, it's really a shame. By no means will a V serial be worth anymore than a M or Z 20 years down the road, I just don't understand why people even care about the serial number.

I don't think you can claim people are less informed than others because you have better availability or AD's offering discounts? What is a shame is implying people are naive because they have paid more or want a latter serial than an earlier one. Personally if i wanted to buy one of the last ones produced I too would want the last serial manufactured and not a Z for example. Does that make my choice shameful or less imformed ?

What i actually responded to was a statement that implied discounts were readily available and therefore why pay the full MSRP never mind higher. The second part of my response indicated that we should all be allowed to choose the serial we are after without being told "why, they are all the same". I very much doubt you will allow an AD to give you any serial going so please don't condone or expect other people to bend over and take it either. Thanks though for allowing me to reiterate my feelings yet again Buz. ![]()

Need Advice
$ 12,500.00 for 18K GMT IIc (black dial)used but like new with box and paperwork, from AD, however out the back door. Is this a good deal for an all 18K Rolex?

The only reason the SD may be priced high is solely due to the ceasement of the line as it was known. People trying to get the last few watches always creates an over demand thus creating higher prices in the main.

I'm waiting for my 'V' Sea Dweller now. I've always loved the watch and the fact it was being dis-continued meant I decided to go for it.
I don't think I payed over the odds for mine, certainly below the USD and GBP figures on here. Does anyone know the official list price in AUD? I noticed it seemed a lot higher on line when I went to check prices at grey dealers. As has been said I think prices will level out in time. Maybe the 'V's will command a small premium being the last of there kind. Maybe not. |

Haven't seen any as yet. Have seen ten year old ones going close to RRP.
