Are any Pateks discounted these days ?

Hi- I usually hate to ask these types of $ questions , however ...

I am potentially interested in the now-discontinued 5205g .... as I am usually a sports watch guy (esp Rolex) and only just got into PP (5167a recent acquisition), I am used to “you are fortunate if you get to pay MSRP”.

My question is, are PP ACs being discounted in the US? the 5205g in particular? If so, what should I shoot for? I have a strong relationship w my AD.

Thx in advance for your advice!

I traded in two watches towards my 5205r. They initially offered wholesale prices on the two watches .
After negotiating back and forth a little, I was able to get over what I saw them both selling for online off of the price for the 5205r.
Its hard to tell what they were able to sell them at, but I'm estimating I got a 5-7% discount plus the sales tax I saved.

I would think so, the 5205g esp so. Have a look on chrono24 and use that as a negotiating basis.

Some US ADs will claim they don't discount. But outside the Nautilus/Aquanaut/Pilot and recent Basel releases, you should be able to get a discount on pretty much any other Patek watch in the US if you shop around.

You should be able to find a deal for a 5205.

I just saw one in the window at tourneau bal harbor. They are the last place I would shop though. Call around I bet you find a deal. I would want 20% but maybe that’s greedy.

That's what I'd sell for. I presume no one will buy at asking price so need some negotiation leeway.

There is no AD discount on Nautilus and Aquanaut, but you can generally get 5-6% off calatrava, 7-8% off complications and up to 10% off grand complications.

I got 10% off my 5167A from a dealer who I'd never purchased from before (in 2015, but the same thing was said back then about these not being discounted).

Aside from the steel 5711 and 5712, many dealers will discount 12-20% depending on the model and method of payment. Best to call around.

not any more, times have changes significantly. If you can get that kind of a discount, great. I know i cant.

I agree with you on the Aquanaut and popular Nautilus models, but many dealers here in the U.S. are still happy to discount other models 12-20%. Their margins are 50% so they still make decent money on expensive pieces.

I managed to get 15% off my 5146R about two months ago. The local market heavily favours sports and steel watches which helped me in my negotiation.

I really think it depends on the AD, if you have a good relationship with the dealer getting it under msrp is def possible. If your just walking in off the street prepare to not only pay full price but if its a desirable model ( 5711 or 5712) good luck even being able to get on a waitlist. Ive talked to my AD and they weren't even taking anymore ppl for their waitlist on those models

Thanks!
I would be buying from my local AD wiry whom I have a great relationship for 7 years or so. I recently got a 5167a from them and have been on 5711 waitlist for about a year. Still deciding on whether to add an AC in the meantime (originally thinking 5205 but now second-guessing and want to try on a 5146 and 5396)... appreciate all the insight and advice!

Should be able to get a discount on AC’s. Feel like I hit the lottery with my 5712 ... two years ago my AD (never bought a watch from them, but some minor jewelry and a few Ghurka pieces) had the 5712 in the case and bought it at a 7% discount off msrp. No chance of that in today’s market. Worked out great for both of us though - subsequently bought 2 PP’s and my Daytona C from them. Great AD and I’m loyal to them now.

I had an AD offer a "nice discount" on the 5711R several months ago, which at the time retailed for about 50k. I'm quite certain I could have bought it for under 45k.

Probably not now, grey prices are higher even in the US.

I'm just not sure if they're actually selling at those prices, the way SS 5711/12 models are.

I'm still keeping my eyes open for retail or below for the R model!

Maybe, but ADs are seeing these prices and that will stop them giving any discount, plus their supply is limited so they should be in no rush to sell these.

Take a look around, the 5205 is a real dog on resale. Not a watch you really want to buy anywhere near retail prices. I wouldn't be comfortable at 20% discount on this one.
