Buy new SMP or wait till August?
Been looking into buying a new Seamaster Professional. Should I buy a current 41 or wait till August and buy a new 42? I’m really indifferent as to the new size and wave dial, but the updated bracelet interests me. Other than that, what’s everyone’s opinion on waiting for the new model? I’d most likely buy the black dial with black bezel. Does anyone know what the other options are? They said they are releasing 14 variations.

The new grey dial looks great in pics, can’t wait to see it in person. I would hold off on a SMP purchase until fall.

Go omega. Every kangaroo in the outback has a black sub.

I just bought a new SMP 41. I prefer the solid dial rather than waves. I think the question is do you like the waves or not?

I like the old waves and the current smooth dial, but I'm not big on the new thick wave one. The Sub no date is a classic, though, and is my preference for a dive watch.

Thanks for all the input guys! Was as the AD yesterday and tried on a current SMP 41 in black. Im definitely going to wait for the new release. The current 41 model wears very small. I was shocked that it wears smaller on me than my Explorer 39. It seems that the lug-to-lug is the same or slightly smaller and the ceramic bezel obviously means a smaller dial than my Explorer. Excited for August to see the new one in person!

I go back and forth between the current and the new. Definitely like the applied dial logo of the current over the painted-on logo of the new. Also, not sure what they did with the helium escape valve, but in the grand scheme, you wouldn't really notice that. I do like the new color options and I think I'll like the larger size. New movement and display caseback are also cool features imho. Ideally, I'd get both but I'll probably wait for the new (unless I come across a smokin' deal on the current model)...

Does anyone know if you can get the new black dial on a rubber strap?

I’m definitely going to hold out for the Grey dial, blue bezel and a bracelet then! I’ve watched a few YouTube videos, and I’m really liking the new bracelet. They appeared to keep the 9 piece design but have a flatter look like oyster links.

Looked it up, officially 6 in SS, 4 in YG, and 4 in sedna gold.
The SS will have blue, black, slate dial and all come in either bracelet or rubber strap. Each gold color will come in either blue or black dial with bracelet or strap. |

Anyone know the expected price point on the Sedna/Steel TT, or the Sedna/Titanium? Could be an option given that I was planning on buying a Sub.

If the 41mm 2500D SMP is too small, then I’m not sure the Rolex SubC would be big enough, either. It’s only 40mm, though the 114060’s block-style lugs makes it wear a little larger. I have both the 114060 and the SMP, and they each have their own merits. The new SMP is also interesting. I would also note there’s quite a price difference between the 114060 and either the new or 2500D-powered SMP. If you like larger watches, the new Planet Ocean Master Chronometer is a great watch. It wears much smaller than its dimensions would suggest. You can easily snag one for less than a 114060.

Likewise I was about to buy a smooth dial then the new wave came in with clear caseback, better clasp, new bracelet and ceramic dial so I'll wait too I think. That said I do like the gloss dial a lot so may revert back to that model of not much difference.

Which color combo were you going to get? And what color combo is your favorite for the new model?

I'm considering the new 42m in black with bracelet. Would complement my old Electric Blue version.
