Icon2 Seiko Champion 1964

Here are a few pics of my latest vintage Seiko. This is a "Champion" from January 1964; one of the later models with an 860 movement regulated to an amazing +1 sec/day. Dial is excellent, but the 36.5mm case, especially, is in incredible condition. Probably the best I have ever personally seen for a 1960s watch. Polished, sure, but the original lines are still strong, with a hint of Taro Tanaka unless I'm mistaken. Caseback is also in great condition with the kind of FUTURA font text still strong and the seahorse (indicating a manual-wind waterproof watch) still there. Pics do not do it justice.

I also found some old Tokyo Olympics ephemera to keep it company.

That's a champ Adam

Interesting black frame around the date window.
Lots of different fonts used in the dial.
I wonder what the symbol just about the 6 O'Clock marker means?

Thanks Steve. I like the font variety on these 1960s pieces. I believe that symbol was used on dials with applied markers with gold or rhodium plating.
