Got the call! What to do with collection?

I got a call from my AD today and was offered the opportunity to buy a 5712! I’ve had my eye on this watch for a while. I was maybe officially on the “list” for 8 months or so and wasn’t expecting to hear from them just yet. I’m pretty excited as the 5712 is as close to my grail as they come. Unfortunately I’m out of town so I won’t be able to pick up the watch for a few days. I’m debating on letting a few other watches go and using this as an opportunity to consolidate. It’s not necessarily about the money, just about the thought of owning less pieces and enjoying the ones I have more.

I’m curious as to your thoughts. What would you let go? What would you keep? The only watches that are “safe” are my Speedy and my OP because they have sentimental value.

Here’s the current collection.

If I could pick from that collection, I'd keep the Coke, the LV, the Daytona, and the BLNR. The moonphase Speedy is pretty neat too

Go with what you can let go out of that collection (beautiful BTW, I see your dilemma)....I don't think our opinions matter much on which watches sing to you the loudest. But congrats on the 5712!

I'd keep the ones you like the most and wear. I just downsized my collection and bought my Grail watch. That currently will be my only nice watch, but I may get a Rolex stainless steel model in the future. It's nice to enjoy a watch and not have to decide which one to wear.

Personally, I’d lose the Daytona, Kermit, and Batman with a view of converting into something very different — Moser, De Bethune, Chopard L.U.C., Bvlgari Octo (inc Roma & Finissimo), Laurent Ferrier... all pre-owned or new with a healthy discount.

Thanks all for the thoughts. It’s so hard! I probably wear the hulk the least. That might be a good place to start. It’s going to be a few long days until I get back in town and pick her up!

Keep Daytona, Hulk, and Coke (need to keep a 5 digit and 6 digit Rolex so could also go Kermit and BLNR)

Congrats! You’ll love it. I’d wait a few months to sell anything.

If you need to sell, I’d sell the Kermit, and if a second needs to go, the BLNR.

I would keep only the Daytona and BLNR. Congrats on the 5712 - my favorite watch overall.

This is exactly what I thought too but then you said the Omega and OP weren't going anywhere due to sentimental value.
I guess then I would be keeping them all apart from two on the top row which I can't identify. Is it a Steinhart and something else?

Yeah omega and OP have to stay. The other two are just beaters. No value. Movado (my first watch I bought after graduating college) and a Steinhart I found on CL for $200 that I use when I’m at the beach.

Coke, hulk, Daytona stay. But sound like you’ll move hulk so then I’d counter and sell coke. Big congrats, the 12 is amazing

Speedy should stay I think. I wore it for the birth of my two children. I feel like I owe it to them to pass it along. Maybe I should just double down with a gift for the wife and keep them all? But I’m so excited for this one!

Picking and choosing what goes is too personal

Congrats on the 5712. Post some shots when it lands
