Is having a Hulk and YG Sub redundant?

Been going back and forth about a YG DD40 or YG sub as my first (and only) PM piece. Would be buying from the gray market, so it's a difference of about $5k (DD40 being more expensive).

Is it worth the savings to just grab the YG sub? But then, is it too close in feel and looks to my Hulk? This has been killing me, and I still have about a month or 2 to figure it out. Thanks for the input, and here's a picture of the watches on my wrist!

Subs are similar, but look totally different to me. Having the DD would definitely give you a totally different watch to wear. I love Subs so having one of each doesn't pose a problem for me.

SS & green dial + YG & blue dial = two totally different animals! There is no reason to not have both....

However, another option, if you want to get YG first + keep it in the sports theme + have more variety + also want RG some day:

* your LVc +

* YG Daytona now (1 of the 2 below) +

* eventually, new full RG CHNR (or TT, if need or want be):

The Daytonas feel a bit small to me, but I definitely want to check out the new CHNR.

Buy the one you really love. Every time I’ve done that, I’ve never thought about how much (or how much more) I paid for it. Unless you’re planning on flipping, $5K (if you like the DD40 more) over the next X decades is definitely less than how much more enjoyment you’ll get over that time, getting exactly what you wanted, IMHO.

That's great advice! Definitely not a flipper, but as usual, it comes down to the fact that I love them both - so price becomes a factor when distinguishing between the two, as does similarities to my other watches.

Get the YG sub, its cool to have a durable daily wearer and the same model in precious metal and a different colour combo, also subs are the most useful and best model again imo.

I don't think so. Very different color schemes, even if it's the same base watch.

As another poster mentioned, I’d go with the new rose gold GMT instead.

Back and forth? LOL In previous threads you stated that you were sold on buying a DD40 and were asking about rose vs. yellow gold. Looks like you are still undecided on which PM watch to buy as now you are considering the 618LB. Don't let price be the deciding factor. Yes, the DD is a few thousand more than the YG Sub, but I will tell you before you drop 25-28K for a watch please make sure you are confident in your choice to avoid buyer remorse!

I know...I'm the worst

I know how indecisive I can be, and buyer's remorse at this price point can definitely be a huge thing. I know it's ultimately my decision, but truly appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions on this forum. It's a great community!

It is IMPOSSIBLE to regret the 168LB! Go for the Blue ... It goes very well with the Hulk. Maybe you will add a 3rd in several yrs down the line. Go try on both several more times. Hopefully this picture helps

Thank you, it's a must in my opinion. No other Rolex provides such an amazing dial in SS (I think).

It can be done, I have had a few Rolexes in my time and now settled down with just these two, I love the Sub aesthetic and these two sunburst colours are tremendous.

No, it’s not redundant. Now stop trying to make those of us that do not have the hulk envious.

Get the DD.

Dont try to save the few grand to buy something your not 100% about. You've been talking about the DD for a while now.

Just go and buy it. I think its safe to say you love that watch. Writing a post like this tossing up the option of a sub means your heart is not set on the YG Sub due to you having the LV already - which i'm 99% sure you will flip it in the not too distant future for the DD40 and you will lose money doing so.
