Did some watch hunting this weekend...
Did some poking around in NYC this weekend. Stopped by Wempe first. They didnt really have much in the way of SS models, but they did have this beauty:
As much as I want a Daytona and others, I think this one may join my collection this summer. The Milguass was also the watch that got me into the hobby, so it has some extra significance to me. Next we stumbled on a tiny place downtown. I noticed it because of what was in the window: a 6610 gilt Explorer, a 6536 Sub, and a 5513 Sub with pointed crown guards. I noticed the owner had a 1016 Explorer on his wrist (which I had always wanted to see in person). We began chatting, and upon learning of my general love for watches, he pulled out two of the cooler pieces in his current inventory. The first was a 1950s Patek Philippe with white enamel dial, ruby markers, and a hand painted image of the King of Saudi Arabia. 100 total were comissioned, 50 as pocket watches, and 50 as wristwatches, to be given as gifts. The second was a really unbelievable find: an all-original Double Red Sea-Dweller, patent pending, in it's original box. Not only was it in fantastic condition, but it was the only 1665 I've ever seen. All in all, a really fun weekend for my watch addiction!
