My Next Watch....No this or that here.

I've been really wanting a smooth bezel Rolex in my rotation to compliment my black (42mm) Explorer II and black GMT Master II. I had the white Milgauss, but I sold it to my twin brother. My choices were DJ (2 or 41), Milgauss or Air-King. I love the 39mm OP and the Explorer but I never keep anything below 40mm's.

I've decided my next watch will be the Air-King (116900). It has majorly grown on me. I love the Milgauss size, case thickness and properly sized crown. I can get all of that plus a little touch of color in the Air-King. Not to mention, it's just an amazing value with an MSRP of $6200.

I need to save up a few bucks and unload a couple watches I don't wear, namely my 39mm Omega Railmaster. So the new lineup will be Explorer II, GMT Master II and Air-King!

I'd greatly appreciate thoughts and pictures from any Air-King owners out there.

Thanks!

Mike

Excellent choice - as I'm looking for the same encouragement to help speed my next "incoming" as well.

I think the 116900 is unique and exciting, and can't wait to call one my own!

Post pics when yours becomes a reality!

I think the Air King is a fantastic looking watch with a lot of character. I strapped one on the other day at my AD just because. If I wanted another watch, it would be high on my list of contenders for sure.

I tried the 116900 on the other day too and was instantly impressed with it. Seriously considering this piece as well!

Congrats! I also have a Milgauss but once I bought my AK It instantly became my daily wearer. It's a very fun piece and definitely a keeper. Enjoy!!

Seems like nobody liked the Air-King when it first came out, but it feels like there is a lot more love for it lately. What's not to like? Perfect size, thickness, black face, brushed oyster bracelet.

Great choice and great trio you’ll have. Love the Air-King and Blk EXP II is my favorite reference of all.

I like it. Was pleasantly surprised when I tried one on. Colour gives it a little pop. Great value piece imo.

Love your thought process and decisiveness. Equal amount of pure reasoning and emotion, thought about cost and pulling the trigger.

Enjoy the wait, the save and the hunt and I look forward to the incoming thread!

Thanks! You are exactly right that the wait and the hunt are half the fun.

My Next Watch....No this or that here.

No brainer - Air King 116900. Might be funky, totally UnRolex. Too loud. A bit clunky. Cheesy and melodramatic. I see three watches - a Milgauss, an Explorer 1 and an OP 39 all
combined into one and I love it!

Airking 116900... An incredible choice and incredible watch.

Love mine more than my BLNR.. while it has never been a forum favorite it seems to be picking up some attention over the last few months. A great piece, rarely seen in public and picked mine up at 6k otd. A great value for such a unique time piece.

Still plenty that will never care for it, and I'm good with that.. I loved my BLNR however with the demand and the incomings of this watch I have honestly grown bored of looking at it, seems most want this watch and will pay a good bit over msrp for it. My favorite GMT is the CHNR followed by the LN

It would be interesting to see what happened to the AK if it got dropped. would it become a cult classic , increase in value and become harder to pick one up or die a quick death ? who knows.. I say enjoy whatever watches you like the look and feel of.

a couple of mine to hold you over

Next up on my list is the White OP39 however the Exp Polar 2 might happen should one come along at the right price .. patiently waiting. For now I will bask in the glory of my AK's Beauty

Loved it from day one and notice opinions are changing around here recently, lol. If they ever drop it from the line up then so be it but it’ll always be a Rolex at the end of the day.
