What is your favorite modern homage to the vintage original?
There have been a lot of great homages to the original as of late from the likes of Tudor, Omega, Tag Heuer, and more.
I love all of these, but I have a particular affinity for the Tudor Black Bay Bucherer edition as well as the Jack Heuer 85th birthday Heuer Autavia. I love the Black Bay because of it's unique colorway and the Autavia truly looks like a modern-sized version of the original - I love the silver panda dial. What is your favorite and why? Please post pics of others not mentioned here as well as this is a neat topic for those of us who love vintage AND modern. Attachment 955471 Attachment 955472 Attachment 955473 Attachment 955474 |

I saw the Ranger in person and I have to say it looked much better in the flesh and I love the shovel hands. I've always appreciated a simple three-hander with the 12-3-6-9 arabics and that's proably why I like the Explorer and the Black Bay Bucherer edition so much.

Of course, how could I forget. Omega knocked these out of the ballpark!

The Calibre 11 Siffert edition is pretty sweet too. Which is your favorite?

In spite of my efforts to never buy another new watch again...a record I’ve kept for 20 years!...this amazing Omega checked all the boxes. Including a fantastic price.

Agreed. I don't even mind the patina-inspired lume, I think it looks great! Beautiful watch!

And one of the added bonuses (besides how well it glows in the dark) is the slight dome of the sapphire. Subtle, but incredibly eye-catching. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree that the Omegas are probably the best homage watches, but those big shiny lugs on ALL of them ruin them for me. Same with the new Heuer chronos. Why oh why do the lugs have to be polished!?
The classic Omega Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch isn't really an homage watch, but man, it's still so cool. The fact that the new ones still look so close to the originals is fabulous. And no polished lugs! Yay! |

Agree. It is IMO one of the best looking and perfectly proportioned sports watches ever made. You also get one helluva lot of horological tech for the dollars.

The only downside is waiting for that first scratch, scar, blemish to show up. It's inevitable, but gotta happen eventually! |

Is this a standard Omega 300 with a Nato or is it a Spectre edition?

Plus, when bought new, the Spectre comes fancy box filled with a lot of treats...as well as a few thousand more tacked onto the price tag. |

Ha ha. 'Snap' my frieND ..
I own a couple of old Speedmasters (a Pre-moon and a Moon ) but don't have great Speedmaster knowledge and had completely missed the 'LE' , early issue or later issue. What a great looking watch !. Reminds me of the Heuer Autavia 'Orange Boy'. I rather fancy owning an 'LE' one day. Very cool. humbsup:

Definitely the Omega 60th anniversary trilogy for me by a mile in this category.
