5167 strap summer sizing

I’ve noticed that some on TRF have a second rubber strap for their aquanaut for the summer months due to wrist swelling in the heat and the unforgiving clasp w lack of micro adjustments.... well, I am considering doing the same and wanted to ask those who have gone this route, how many extra “bars” do you have on your summer strap and whether you add them to one side (and if so, which one?) or both. I realize sizing is an individualized and personal thing but wanted to canvas members here before I order one. Thanks in advance!

one extra at 12 o'clock for summer. In the winter its even on both

IMO if its uneven, the longer strap should be to the 12 o'clock side

Just one notch difference for me, at the 6 o'clock side.
I've a bit of an odd shaped wrist so 6 o'clock is always better for adjustment for me.

My wrist is around 7 inches and I wear the 5167 with 10 notches at 12 and 8 at 6 in summer.

Yep, all my watches are longer on 12 o’clock side!

Unless you have a Patek AD nearby I wouldn’t bother. Just wear the summer size year round. The watch grips the wrist well.

I say this because it’s a @#$& to change straps in my experience due to the design which has metal prongs seated against the case. Unlike a Rolex, any tooling marks will make you downright cringe.

Thanks and agree - I size my own Rolex and most others but I won’t touch the Patek. Lucky my Patek (and Rolex) AD is 2 miles away and I pop in all the time so no big deal.

Appreciate the feedback from everyone else. Currently I have two extra bars on the 12 o’clock side (all my watches are sized longer on this side). I’ll probably add one to the 6 o’clock side for the summer. While it’s not a big deal, I also don’t think it’s a big deal to spend a few hundred on a strap for a $19k watch to make it more comfortable in summer months.

I think it's such a minimal issue I personally wouldn't bother.

i wish i could do that. I add links to my Nautilus's too in the summer and that is a hassle as i only need it 1/2 link bigger. So its one link out and a 1.5 in.

Also have it with one extra notch for the "summer" strap. I get the Patek Salon to change the between the straps every spring and autumn. As pointed out above, I think that given the cost of the Aqua the cost of an extra strap to make the watch 100% comfortable all year round is small change.

I didn't realize until I bought a second strap that the 6 and 12 o'clock sides are the same item. That is really convenient since you can mix and match to your liking until you have the perfect fit. In my case, I have four pieces (2 straps) each cut to a different length (8, 9, 10, 11 notches) for maximum flexibility. While I wish there was some adjustability built in, it seemed like a no-brainer to spend a couple hundred bucks to make sure a $34k watch fit correctly.

I also noticed that both sides of the strap were the same, which to me even further rationalizes the cost of ordering an additional strap.
