That is terrible, hope you are ok.
Posting the serial number in text is one good thing you can do. So if someone searches for it, it will be confirmed stolen.

Do you have the warranty book or insurance documents which would have the serial number on it? If so, post that serial number here.

Sorry to hear about that.

London seems to be getting more and more dangerous in particilar for watch theft. In all areas but especially in more expensive areas like Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Chelsea.

Would be curious to know how exactly it happened so that we can be more cautious. Curious when you first noticed them and was (and when) was there a giveaway that something wasn't right.

Just make sure you dont walk alone late night and when you have expensive things make sure a car is along with you.

Horrible. I'm a in London now and go at least twice a year and luckily never had an issue, not has anyone else I know but I assume the area would make a difference. When walking around Mayfair it's literally a Rolex, AP and Patek walking boutique. Anyway hope it is found and I assume it wasn't insured.

Excellent. Now if anyone sees it for sale out there, hopefully this thread will pop up.

Sorry this happened, did you have it insured?

Once you get the police report, you can submit that to AP and they will mark it as a stolen watch in their system. If the watch ever goes in for service (whether it is a year or ten years from now) they will return the watch to you.

This happened to a friend of mines father who had his Rolex stolen and got it returned to him 15 years later!

The scum that steals watches like this... One would like to set a trap to get them caught. I hate the thought of not being able to walk freely with one of my beloved watches.
I have been in London plenty lately wearing my APs but I recon Im safe as Im pretty much always escorted by vendors and travel by taxi.

Im truly sad for your loss.

Would be curious what % of value most people pay for insurance per year. Seems like that number is something around 7-10% if I had to guess but would like to know.

Way less than that, but I have quite a few pieces insured... But I do pay a substantial amount every year. A lot more than the typical car insurance here.

I just looked at mine, its on my homeowners policy. My premium for all of it is under 1% of value. Jewelers Mutual and others seem to be a bit north of that number but I am comfortable with the policy under my homeowners.

Wow! That is cheap! I think in London it is significantly more from what I can tell.

I had a watch stolen in January. I was positive I would never see it again, but I still went through the motions of filing a police report and notifying Rolex. You should do the same - lo and behold, my watch appeared on eBay last week and I was able to get it back because I had filed the paperwork. I'm so sorry to hear this happened, but it may make its way back to you!

Would you mind sharing how it was stolen and if you have any advice on how to mitigate the risk based on your unfortunate experience?

1% to 1.3% of the insured value is a very good gauge

I think it depends a lot on where you are. I have not seen it that low in London--but hoping maybe I haven't checked the right places..

I have found the average for a large jewelry floater is 3% of the replacement value. It can get up there for a large collection but worth it imo and I have always had it.

I’m in Los Angeles, too. 3% is way too high. I used to pay around that with Jewelers Mutual. No longer. I want to say I’m just north of 1% for a large policy separate from Homeowners.

Would you mind sharing who you use? I've done quite a bit of research from Liberty Mutual to Lloyds. Also makes a pretty significant difference what city the home is in as well, but I'd absolutely like to see if I can get a better rate. Feel free to PM Thx
