Would you trade these 3 + cash for a 116519LN

Friends, I need your advice. I've been bitten by the WG gold bug and the DaytonaC WG is on my radar. Given the MSRP is crazy expensive, I will need to flip a few watches in my collection to help fund the purchase. So, would you sell these to help fund it...

1. Panerai Luminor 40mm.

2. JLC Master Chronograph

3. Rolex Explorer 1 39mm

4. Rolex Submariner 114060 (maybe)

For this...

I would still have these in my collection...

Thanks!

I would hate to see you do that. I would just save for the Daytona.

Not me.

If I were to even consider such a trade it would have to be for an “all gold” piece. Part of owning PM would be bracelet and all IMO

How bad do you want it?

If the answer is you want it more than anything, then yes. Do what you must.

However, ask yourself this. What do I want the watch for?

Is it because its always been a dream? Then it is worth more than any bond you have with your current watches.

But if its just a fleeting want, or something you've seen on here and now you covet. Well then wait... save up. Make the longing for it last longer. Were the watches you are so free and willing to trade now, were they also dreams?

Basically, what do those watches mean to you? If they mean very little. Trade them. Who cares.

But if all those watches have any meaning to you, or memories. Then keep them. For example for myself. I bought myself a watch for my 21st Birthday... (Omega Seamaster 300m) is it my favourite watch now? No. But I will never sell it, because it was a marker of my life. I've just turned 30 and I'm going to buy something special for it.

Buy with your heart, and you'll love what you buy and the decisions you make.

Also flipping a JLC to fund a Rolex is insane.

JLC = higher tier than Rolex. (Yes there are brands higher than Rolex, crazy I know)

You make this statement like it’s an absolute truth. I’ve owned enough watches to know that it’s nearly impossible to tier high quality brands like Rolex and JLC. It’s all a personal preference.

Oh yeah with their temperamental/unreliable movements and WR issues. I've seen enough of Jlc to know that I'll never ever buy one.

I’d try to keep the jlc chrono but all else fair game, the 519 is that good. I’d sub that ym in the deal. In fact, I’d want

Jlc chrono
Black sub

OP, yes I'd do that trade, you'll still have two other Rolex and a beautiful Panerai submersible.

JLC are the watchmakers watchmaker... they supplied PP. Arguably the best brand in the world. They have the most complicated movements. I mean go look at any of their tourbillion complications. What they have achieved in full 3D Tourbs, surpasses anything Rolex could ever make. (Rolex aren't interested in ridiculous complications)

https://youtu.be/rNh1cR3tMm8?t=26m57s

It is not personal preference at all. JLC are of a higher tier than Rolex. Rolex's power is the brand and their marketing. JLC is purely known for its watchmaking that is the difference. If you ask an average joe, who is Rolex. They will tell you. JLC, they will look confused.

That is the power of Rolex. It is why people crave them. Rolex to impress others, JLC to impress yourself.

Do I still like Rolex, of course. They're great reliable time pieces and that's why I'm here. But horologically, they are a lower tier than JLC. Not by much, but they certainly are.

Have to agree on the JLC-I’m
Going to be selling my gold Sub and a gold Zenith as they are not my favourites, the gold JLC Master Compressor is definitely one I’m going to keep (as well as the IWC Portuguese perpetual calendar which I don’t wear enough to be honest). JLC produces some stunning timepieces

I would keep the sub over the Yachmaster.
Just keep in mind you will be going from watches that wear much larger than what that Daytona will look like and feel like on your wrist.
