Why would someone buy a white gold sport watch?

On my recent trip to Norway I saw a white gold Submariner at a dealer. Unless your circle of friends all drive Bentley's or Ferrari's where precious metal jewelry would be the norm, what is the rationale? It looks like SS.

Unique dial and bezel color.

Of course, Rolex changed that with the BLRO.

Weight and warm tone of WG.

WG is for the wearers appreciation. The feel/weight of the gold, personal preference/pride of ownership, etc... Then there’s the dials, bracelets, etc...specific to WG models. To each their own. I love my WG pieces:)

Could not have said it better. WG is just for me. No one else knows or cares in my circles. I like WG and don’t wear YG. (No Bentley or Ferrari, here....)🤪

From the tone of your post it sounds as though you believe the point of the watch is showing off. Not everyone reasons that way.

How much does it weigh? I’ve been wondering how much heavier the WG is over SS. SS should be at ~160g. Have you put it on a scale?

Yeah, some people dislike the weight, but I too, likes the feeling of a heavy PM watch on the wrist.

Yep!

why would anyone buy a $10k watch, when they can have one for $10 that also tells time, potentially more precisely.

A desire for a precious metal watch without perceived attention yellow gold (might) garner.

Plus some of them have sweet dial colors.

The same reason LV makes their bags and other accessories in different materials/patterns. Some scream LV while some sport just a small, hard to notice, single 'LV' on them. I prefer the latter and WG/Platinum as well.

There's no right or wrong, IMO. Different strokes...

Is your rationale for wearing gold that everyone knows you're wearing gold? Then WG is definitely not for you.

I really don't care about impressing anyone...I just wear what I like.

This, having just added a WG BLRO I have to say that I like the understatement and as has been said, if you know you know!

I love it frankly, those polished middle links really set it off. Wish I had a blue sub date like that. To me it's the best looking model aside from my black sub date :D
