Are there any AP models similar to Rolex SS

Are there any AP models similar in appearance to some of the hard to find Rolex stainless steel models ? Or are we talking about apples and oranges ?

oyster case vs royal oak case. Both great and both fairly similar across the range. IE same design cues. You get far more complication options with the APs though

I agree and one of the their chronos is similar to a Daytona. But that's really about the end of it.

Closer to AP are Hublot and Linde Werdelin, who I do have a penchant for.

Apples and oranges, or octagons and circles. Sorry couldn’t resist. They are very different beyond just the looks, APs are less tool watches and more fragile. The detail will literally blow you away though.

There is room for both of you know and appreciate them.

Fragile

I wouldn’t say they are fragile! I’d say the more refined finish then Rolex does mean they show marks more easily and can’t carry the well used look like a Rolex could but I wear my RO doing everything I did with me Rolex’s and so far it hasn’t missed a beat.

exactly. Both steel watches and both equally strong. Finish scratches are not the same thing as a watch being fragile

I know there are way too many car analogies around here but I just thought of this one that may connect with people who have never owned an AP.

Wearing a rolex is like driving around a car with 16' wheels and you have plenty of tire to be comfortable over potholes and kiss curbs when parking etc. When you wear an AP it is like driving with a 15k set of forged 21'' wheels. Nick that curb and you will be swearing for the rest of the evening

But boy do they look nice!
