Seiko Automatic Diver With Blue Dial and Rubber Strap
I've been thinking about buying a beater watch. I would like something low-key with a rubber strap, but I still want a reliable automatic watch. I like blue dials and a few new Seikos have come out in the past year. Does anyone have an opinion or experience with any of these three watches? Or do you suggest any other watches?
The first two Seikos have the 6R15 movement and sapphire glass (SBDC063/SPB079J1 and SBDC053/SPB053J1). The third picture is the new mini-turtle SRPC39K1 with the 4R36 and hardlex. https://www.seikowatches.com/global-...ospex/SRPC39K1 https://www.seikowatches.com/us-en/p...ospex/SPB079J1 https://www.seikowatches.com/us-en/p...ospex/SPB053J1 |

Check out the Save the Ocean model SRPC91. It is blue and has a cool wave pattern. There are a few posted in the thread of what Seiko are you wearing today.

Thank you for the input on that. I have see it before and I like everything about it.....except for the bezel that's 1/3 a different color.

The SRPC is the smallest one in all of them. Is wears more like a 40-41mm cushion cased watch. I really liked it for sure. I did not like the cyclops so I removed it. It also uses a 4r36 which is a really good movement imo.
The SPB053 wears the biggest out of all of them. The case does not curve, it sits flat on the wrist. So it wears larger for sure. Personally it would be the SPB079 for me as a winner. |

How hard was it to take the cyclops off the SRPC39K1 mini-turtle? There was no damage? At 42mm it seems like a good size. The SPB079J1 is the re-imagination (as opposed to the recreation) of the 1968 model. I liked it ever since I saw it. 44mm is a little big, but I'd like to try in person. How long has the SPB053 been around? I don't recall seeing it last year when I first noticed the SPB079J1? Its interesting that you say that even at 42.6mm it wears bigger than the 44mm SPB079J1? |

SBDC053 is awesome!!!
As for the mini Turtle, its fine but you may as well go the whole hog and get the full size Turtle. I can say I've seen it and held it with the blue dial/bezel and it is amazing value and bang fun and satisfying.

The SBDC035 huh? Over the blue dial 1968 re-imagination? Okay, lets see. I need to get them on the wrist. |
