Removing that Green Sticker?

Hello,

Recently I picked up a Sub 16610.
The case is incredible. I'm really excited and hope everything goes well with the shipping (seller sending / the watching being okay on arrival.)

So I owned a SubC for a while and a GMT Pepsi. All were sold and I've moved on.
With the 16610 I can see this model going up in value. I never plan on selling my watches but I could see a trade in the future if it's really a good deal.

All that being said maybe this will be the Rolex I keep forever. Should I remove the sticker. How much of a sin is it?

Both my GMT's are over 20 years old and both still have the green stickers on them, well what is left of them, I would personally leave it on.

Yeah, i agree.
It shows the only remaining part of its known history.

Besides, what's the harm in leaving it on?
It doesn't affect anything except maybe the future resale value.
If in doubt, leave well alone.
All of my Rolex watches were on sold with their original green sticker on the back.

Why would you want to leave it on?

x2. If you don't like nasty bacteria and other funk peel it off and give the watch a good wash. These stickers were not meant to stay on when wearing the watch!

I have a similar situation. I have a five digit SeaDweller that had the green sticker on the case back. I’ve just left it for now.

You don’t need ‘safe secs’. Take it off and ‘feel’ your watch. You won’t want to go back!

No. You should leave it on and, in fact, source the missing protective plastic films and add them on.

Don't listen to these people. Not only is it a sin, it boarders on being a mortal sin.
Once it's off, you can never go back. I like virgin looking watches.

Removing that Green Sticker?

By removing the sticker it will not decrease the value. If it were a safe queen and sticker was in tact and new I would keep it on. The sticker in new condition would show the watch was barely worn. Unless of course, someone sourced a new sticker and put it on...

If its a Safe Queen to be sold/traded later leave it on. IF you intend on wearing it take it off. In my minds eye its as simple as that.

If this were a BNIB 16610 then yes i'd say leave it on so that everything is original

However if it has been worn and used already, it makes no difference if the green sticker is there or not IMHO. If you're going to stick it in a safe then just leave as is

BUT if you are going to wear it.... REMOVE the sticker because that is just gross! bacteria! grime! sticky residue! just icky!

Those stickers are seriously disgusting. Take ownership of your watch by removing it!

Hmmm, you could be right but if your Rolex is 904L that sticker could prevent a nasty nickel allergy.

Ps. You won’t get as much grime from a green sticker as you will from between bracelet links.

I take them off. If I buy a watch it’s because I want to keep it forever and wear it. I don’t want or need a sticker on there getting gross.

Hey, we haven't had a lively sticker discussion in years...

The green sticker has zero value and never has, zero, zilch, nada.

Maybe not to you.

But to others, perhaps it might make some difference

Really? well if you wash your watch in warm water with dish soap on a regular basis (which you really should do) that little green case back sticker eventually surrenders to the soap and water and there will be no choice but to scrape it off. Been there and done that many times over the years.

Mine stayed on for years with regular(once a week) bathing.
The only sign of degredation was some wear on the surface from arm hair also wear and tear and wrinkling around the perimiter

Taking that sticker off won't make a jot of difference to the price.

The buyer won't be looking at the condition of the sticker but the overal condition of the watch!

Just think, a case where the sticker is pristine but the case and bracelet dented and scuffed. It don't make sense.

My Y-serial, 16710 still had the green case back sticker on when I got it last year. I removed it the very day it arrived, cleaned the watch, and never looked back.

I bought an Exp II out of an AD's wall display case (Bergen, Norway). It had no stickers of any kind on it but yet, it still runs fine and looks beautiful.
