Questions about bracelet sizing and stretch for large wrist

Hi,

First post as I have just joined Rolex Watch Forum. I'm presently not a Rolex owner but will become so sometime in the next few weeks. I've researched and decided that a previously-owned Datejust Reference 16233 in SS or Two-tone is the piece I'll buy.

My question revolves around the selection of the bracelet. In my research (sorry I can't link my references), I have read that the Oyster will be a more robust and comfortable bracelet than the Jubilee, especially for large wrists. Mine are 21cm (8-1/4") in circumference, 60mm (2-3/8") in width. I'd like input on this question from owners who have A Datejust with Jubilee bracelet and large wrists, to confirm or deny this conclusion.

Also, my experience with metal bracelet watches has not been good, which is why I usually prefer leather bands. The type my father used to have were the expansion type, which tended to get hairs caught and tugged out. Not nice. I'm assuming that I won't experience with discomfort with a Jubilee or Oyster with a deployment - is that correct?

No, the oyster is not more comfortable than the jubilee.

No, they won't pull your arm hair.

The Rolex Oyster/Jubilee are the ONLY steel bracelets that not pull my arm hair! You will be surprise!

I believe you’ll need additional links to fit your wrist. As Larry mentioned, it might be a good idea to stop by an AD and compare some larger rolexes to the 36mm DJ, if you haven’t already.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll visit the AD local to me to look at and try on various models, as you suggest. It's a shame that I won't be able to test the long term comfort of the bracelet in the store.

My watch collection is mostly vintage and therefore I have a penchant for smaller caliber wrist watches. Maybe, to some, such a watch looks out of place on my arm. I just can't seem to get into large watches (unless they are pocket watches)

Visited an AD today and tried on a couple DJ watches with both Oyster and Jubilee bands. What I sampled was (1) comfortable (2) correctly sized for my wrist surprisingly. What I mean is that it did not look like a child's watch on an adult; the 36mm watch was proportional. Wish I could post a picture but too soon.
