2009 TT Sub?

Hey TRF how is it going guys..
I need your help guys, I'm thinking of buying the TT blue sub, one thing is holding me back though..
all this hype about the new ceramic subs and the upcoming 2009 basel is giving me a hard time making up my mind, i mean the blue sub is a classic and it's been around for years and it would suck if i bought it now while knowing the new TT sub is coming out in a month or two.. so what do you guys think? should i proceed with my purchase or should i wait? not to mention I found the bluesy in an outstanding price which is very hard to pass..

that is a hard choice. I personally would wait and see. Once they come out you will know once you see it which one smiles at you.

when are the ceramic bezel coming out? well anticipated release anyway? will they be released before or after Basel 2009?

If you like it buy it, especially if you have sorted out a good price. I picked up a V serial Blue TT yesterday, it's great!!

sure thing I love it, but my dilemma is kinda different.. it's like saying should I buy a 2008 model car or wait 2 months and get the new face-lifted 2009 model, but in my case i have no idea when that new 2009 model is coming out.. it might be 2 months from now, or maybe 2 years.. who knows..

As another poster said, although it is almost certain to be unveiled at Basel, it won't actually hit the shops until much later in the year, and even then, there could be waiting lists. If you've found a TT Sub at a price hard to turn down, then go for it - if the new Sub really smiles at you, you can always trade it in. Either way, you get a fantastic watch.

I was in the same situation as you. I ultimately bought the current version TT sub because I got it at a great price. My thinking was that the new version TT sub would take a while to be available and it would initially sell for a higher MSRP than the current version, and without a discount.

This anticipated difference in cost was not worth it to me in return for a few improvements (maxi dial, solid center links, parachrom spring, better clasp). The hollow center links might wear out sooner than the solid center links on the new version TT sub, but the anticipated difference in cost is enough to buy two replacement bracelets.

So, unless you prefer the look of the new version sub, I respectfully suggest that you grab the TT sub now.

If you feel happier having the latest car/watch/etc., however, you should wait for the new version sub so that you won't have regrets. It's not worth saving some money today if you won't be 100% happy later.

I would wait to Basel and see what the color blue looks like. If you do not like it, then you should be able to pick up an ols style TT sub easily for a year or so.

the overall thought is the TT sub will show up at Basel, but you probably won't start seeing it in the stores until 4th quarter 2009

I'm a little puzzled by your perspective........

You love the TT Blue....you know that the ceramics are on their way. You also know that the ceramics will not look like the older one...block case, fat lugs, fat crown guards and the slightly paler blue colors..

So why would it suck if you bought the one you have dreamed of, and they release the one you haven't even considered a couple of months later.. I would say that you bought perfectly to be able to get the one you want..

Unless it's all about having the latest and greatest ... Then you will also have to pay the latest and greatest price... it won't be cheap.

the old sub TT is a classic piece.. there is nothing that will replace it..
i love the this piece..
go get it.. i am thinking about getting one as well

I would also take a close look at this new guild lock bracelet. It has no hollow links and a milled clasp where as the current TT and SS has stamped sheet metal and hollow links. I did not even know about this when I got my LV the hollow links and flimsy clasp. I would wait my friend for the new version. You will also benefit from the new blue hairspring and ceramic bezel.

I have to say that before I made the decision to order my V serial TT Blue Sub I was lucky enough to see the full line up of old and new Subs in one window in Stratford Upon Avon. I have to say that I much prefer the case shape on the older models. I know that the old clasp is talked about in a negative way but it is the overall package that I look at.
I think that if you have any doubt you should see what Basel brings even if to put your mind at rest. Beware there will be no good deals on new models though!!

As others have said, I recommend waiting to see which one you like more. The bottom line is prices are only going to work in your favor the longer you wait...anybody that thinks this economy is going to turn around in a few quarters is out to lunch. More discounts are around the corner as sellers realize more & more each day just how bad this economy is. The longer you hold out, the better IMO.

Then again, be aware that even if you fall in love w/ a watch that is revealed at Basel you're looking at months of waiting to finally get your hands on one. I sold my LV the minute the DSSD was revealed at Basel 'cause I knew I wanted one and didn't need both watches. In less than 2 months I realized the wait was going to be too painful & long...I needed a Sub to hold me over. So I purchased a Sub Date that I wore for 6 months until I could get my hands on a DSSD. I knew I was going to lose $ on flipping the Sub so soon, but I was willing to accept that price. If you do not want to lose any cash, then I recommend you wait until you know exactly what you want and then buy that watch - anything short will surely cost you some money. Good luck.

JMHO but I have zero interest in the new TT sub. If it had the same shade of blue maybe, but fatter lugs and crown gards aren't for me. I've been holding out on buying a SS Sub because I want to see how the upgrades look on the SS Subs but I bought my TT as a somewhat "elegant" bridge between dress occasions and casual wear. The updated model won't do that for me.

I purchased a brand new tt Bluesy on Christmas eve, have only worn it once, keep thinking that i should of waited another year until the new model came out but its just not the same blue which makes a big difference in my opinion.
I prefer the bigger case but not the colour .

I just got the DSSD with the ceramic bezel (which I assume will be very similar to the sub bezel) and the difference between that and the old bezels is NIGHT AND DAY! Well worth the wait!
