I've read that Aegler stopped making the Hunter Cal.270 in 1950 to make way for the cal. 1030/5... Who designed this movement and who actually manufactured it? I know it has "Rolex" engraved on the rotor but so have many Hunters.

Some places (admittedly on the internet) say the the 1000 series was the first "in-house" Rolex movement. Is there any substance to this claim?

If this is true and Rolex had been designing and making their own movements "in-house" since 1950, why did they acquire Aegler in 2004?
