Rolex V Patek ---> 2 for 1?

A fleeting thought crossed my mind and I need a sanity check from the masses - 2 hot steel Rolex for a Patek 5167A Aquanaut??

no because that means you are paying 30k for a 5167.

I would sell them to fund a hypothetical 5167 at retail maybe, but might as well flip them for a 5164A and add some cash... that i would absolutely do.

Not a chance if it were me. I prefer both of your current watches over the 5167.

+1. The 5167 is highly overrated. I’d maybe do the two steel plus cash for a 5164. Maybe.

This. I'd personally rather have even one of your Rolexes over the Aquanaut.

I was hoping you'd chime in bud as you have a good mix of the two brands.

I'd never get 30K for the two steels. They are worth early 20s in the UK and grey 5167 is 21-24K. I would of course love a 5167 at RRP and despite benefitting from that blessing on the Rolex side due to buying history etc no one is affording me that luxury on the PP...

its just too much to give up for a 67 at a premium. The secondary price spread vs a 67 and a 64 is way more narrow than the retail spread. I think there is the most value in the 64 and i prefer it anyway.

Plus the 67 wears really thin (some dress watches are actually thicker) and the 64 is going to give you more of the Rolex wrist presence that you would be giving up. And you are not sacrificing a compilation as you still have a dial time

I agree on all counts but I'd need to find 8-10k to top up.

I too would only change these two for a 64 altho you would need to add more cash, but the Rolexes are all a bit similar so I wouldn't begrudge you wanting to trade into a PP.

That's not a bad idea if I could get the PP at rrp. Grey prices would mean topping up way too much.

No, that patek is simply not an attractive watch. If it was one of their chronos that’s a different story. With all due respect to PP, it’s a dress watch pretending to be a sport watch. It’s not.

I just sold a Daytona ceramic and a blue skydweller to largely fund a 5726/1a-100 and couldn’t be happier. Depends on what you’ll like better.

Yeah, I would. If you kept them and bought a 5167 you'd not ever wear either of the Rolex anyway.

The hypothetical flip is the value of a GMT & a Diver for an OysterDate. Two watches with great functionality if you fly or dive for a watch that only knows what time it is and today’s date.

Taken in that context, of course not.

But if you mean any 2 Rolex SS for 1 PP SS, then it’s only a brand value question. Which brand do you value more highly?

No because i find the aquanaut to be downright ugly. I dont think it would be as popular if any other watchmaker made it.

Not just a no, but hell no. I don’t get the popularity of the aquanaut. I think it’s ugly.

For an Aquanaut, nope.

Never!
Other than the Aquanaut is a Patek it has no appeal to me as a watch, whatsoever!
A matesterpiece, but who would have thought it?

Rolex V Patek ---> 2 for 1?

Absolutely not. I own 5164, hulk and Batman (let alone the Pepsi). I love the 5164 but I enjoy the other 2 much more. Something about that rubber feels inferior to full bracelet. The colors, reliability and cool factor are higher with both rolexes than one patek. The 5164 has great dual time function but it is a scratch magnet and much more delicate than any Rolex. The ceramic bezels on the Rolex is an absolute must for daily wearer imho.

All the above considering 5164 which is way more interesting than 5167. For me 5167 is absolutely no go even if I get cash back as part of the deal. I respect those who like it but for me it is absolutely boring watch and it only successful because the patek name .

Just my 2 cents

I would never give up two watches for one not a fan of the Patek Aquanaut good movement but so as the Rolex.
