So Ugly I Love It!! :-)
Traded the Omega GMT for this Sinn U1 on bracelet and first impressions are very good.
I wanted a German watch and thought about a dress watch, but realized that was useless for me. I think this watch is so ugly that it is beautiful. I know it will not be most peoples cuppa, but that again is part of the attraction. Talk about a tank too, it is 44mm and the case is made out of the same steel as German Subs. Great value for the money, I would recommend it to anyone. Funky fun... Very easy to size bracelet with hexagon screws.

Thanks pal, people refer to them as lego hands, and if you see it in person you know why. I do like it though.

There's something about the orange and white hands and just the overall layout of the watch that kind of makes you think of a sub when you look at it

Submarine or Submariner???? If you mean Submariner you must be trying to make me not like this watch that I like.

I don't think it's ugly. Is it Ti or SS? And are you planning to take it to 1000m yourself?

Frans, it is a brushed SS made from the same material as German subs, whatever that means.

Not sure if I like the Sinn more than the Omega, BUT... I have always been a fan of things that are unique. And that Sinn my friend... is Unique. So two big enthusiastic thumbs up from me!

Thanks guys for the comments. To be honest, the Omega always felt so damn small on the wrist, so it had to go. This baby lets me know I am wearing a watch and I like that.
JJ, it is actually more of a red than orange, but maybe somewhere in between.

I think that Sinn's kinda cool, Daren - I might just take a closer look at them in the future.
Al, I've gotta admit that I've always been a bit leery of casebacks that are held in place by screws, rather than the screwdown design found on Oysters. Maybe I'm just being ignorant, but do they in fact seal the case any less effectively?

Nice score Daren. There was a write up on the U1 and U2 two months ago in Watch Time and they gave it two enthusiastic thumbs up (to quote chipperoonie).
I believe the article said the metal is heat treated to harden and strengthen it. I'd have to re-read it though. If you don't have that issue, let me know and I'll send you my copy. Again, congrats. I really like it (never was a fan of the Seamaster). |

OMG, I actually prefer the PAM to the U1, D. Sorry you got rid of the GMT, but if you like this one, that's what counts. Enjoy it (at least until you trade it for something else - and I can't wait to see what the next one will be ).
