Seiko alpinist SARB017? What do you guys think...

So ever since the LE came and gone...Ive been thinking about the Alpinist. Since im not willing to pay for a 3x mark up, what do you guys think about the Green? The numnerals...its raised...I assume its not gold.

Also whats the best deal you guys have seen?

Thanks much

I’ve recently purchased the LE and decided to buy the SARB017 as well because I really like the Alpinist series-it’s my favourite Seiko offering by far. It’s never come on my radar before to be honest.

Putting the 2 watches side by side I can’t say one is better than the other-it would be personal preference which you prefer.I love both but I must say that the SARB017 is a giveaway at the £375 I paid for it.

Thanks much. Definitely thinking about it. Seems like great value and a lot of watch for $460 or so

It's got a classic feel. At that price you can't really go wrong.

Green is lovely, and the $600 blue goes for about $1k (so not 3x).

I might like the green better than the blue. Go for it.

Love the Alpinist in green it's a Seiko classic & the blue lifts it to another level .I'm not sure if the raised numerals are real gold or not & I highly doubt it ,but it really doesn't make much difference either way to me anyway .You can buy either with confidence

Seiko alpinist SARB017? What do you guys think...

I bought mine last week from a Japanese seller on Ebay for $358.00 and free shipping using the 15% discount offered. I put it on an Angus jubilee straight end link bracelet made by Miltac. I wanted a more vintage look with the straight edge to match the vintage hands on the watch. Super beefy and built like a tank.

I’m really enjoying wearing it. Looks great, a lot of watch for the money, expertly finished in lovely detail, sits beautifully on the wrist and keeps excellent time. After a week I’m at +8 seconds.

My apologies! It was $398 with the discount! Typed 5 instead of 9. Early morning typo, lol.

You can find Japanese sellers on eBay that sell brand new in the box. I found the cheapest one, and applied a 15% coupon eBay was offering at the time. Every so often they have them. It was advertised on their home page and I got an e-mail too.

In fact, there's a 20% off coupon now for active wear. I bought a new pair of Puma sneakers, my old skool favorites, and a track jacket

Got to keep an eye out.

To flashy. I thought it was suppose to be a field/explorer watch. It was to over the top for that. I also was not a fan of the shade of green they used.

Of course this was when they first came out when I had one. Now everyone is going bonkers over them.

Congrats on it.

The blue is a nice watch but the green is more distinctive, half the price, and still readily available brand new.

There is(was)one in the for sale section here reduced to $850.Around $800 is a sensible price for one in my opinion.

I paid about $500 for the green one. It’s a nice watch, but it’s your moolah...

hate to say it, but I didn't like it. I thought it looked kind of cheap, was a lil blocky in terms of dimensions, the leather band was cheap and to me a compass is useless. I've had other Seikos w a compass and it tended to move easily. That said, it is an extremely popular and unique watch. I think it has a 6R15 movement which I have had great luck with. In its price range, I guess it is really pretty good... nice thing is it is a hot watch, if you want out of it and are into selling, you can't lose too much.

I quite like it at first glance. Then I start to have doubt. I finally realize I don't really like the 4o'clock pusher/knob. Spoilt the watch symmetry for me.

I have the green one. Thinking of putting it on strapcode’s TT jubilee bracelet.

Hope to get a blue one also. Dunno yet what bracelet to use.

Its amazing it has the following it does. I have seen the reviews on the 4 o clock compass...biggest issue is that it doesnt lock down which i can see is itritable. I think it helps being a Limited edition. I like both but didnt want to buy both a green and a blue...

This is not a $7k watch but as with almost all seiko’s it punches well above its weight.

Im looking forward to a slighlty smaller case size around 38/39 mm and hopfully with the oyster strap. It really becomes a fun watch. The other thing im excited to see is the matte/sunburst dial...

Delivery comes later so. Will get it by the time I get home. Pumped

I sourced a strap which matches the one on my SBP089 - I really am torn as to which watch I like the most
