Guess I’m part of the flipping problem

So, I went and did it. Flipped my BLNR for the piece I always wanted. This was a not a decision I took lightly, but in the end, one that made sense (especially given the current market madness for BLNR) to get my hands on a watch that is otherwise unobtainable in my area.

As many of you I don’t like the the crazy prices of the hot pieces today, and do struggle a bit with being part of “the problem“, but the way I justify it is the net between what I paid for my BLNR and the new guy is to me more than an acceptable premium for a really hot piece that’s a keeper. I’m sure I will get over it- especially given the shear beauty of this piece.

Here you go.
BTW- which bezel version is this???

I'm not sure you are. You traded one overpriced thing for another slightly more overpriced thing. Vintage collectors have been fine tuning their collections in this way for many many years.

I think that's the way to do it.

In a few months you would have gotten 2 of themes for a 116710!

Congratulations and welcome to the club

I’d say it’s the transitional MK1.5 bezel

Thanks for the supportive feedback folks. Much appreciated!

I am feeling pretty good about my decision- I can’t stop staring at the watch, and it’s so comfortable. I was always conscious of the BLNR on my wrist, but the BLRO with its jubilee just hugs, nay, caresses my wrist.

Guess I’m part of the flipping problem

Sounds like a no brainer to me, congrats on the beautiful BLRO

I’ve been out of the loop over the past few months in regards to market prices: is the BLNR really going for ~$18K BNIB now that it’s discontinued?

Congrats on the piece! No harm in that. We aren't made out of money, sometimes you just have to do a trade in order to get piece you like. I don't think you are a flipper; you enjoyed the BLNR, there was just something better out there for you.

Enjoy!

What year does it say on the warranty? I heard the later 2018s were the newer bezel colors.

Thanks very much. It was a tough choice and I did love that BLNR, but to me the BLRO is a different level.

Card says Aug 2018- so, early ? The red on mine looks darker than I have seen on some other’s photos, but I have only seen one in person, so I am not sure.

You probably have the MK2 bezel as individuals call it.

The blue should appear darker as well (in addition to the red). It's almost purple-ish on the original release.

I like the darker bezel. Congrats!

Congrats!

Once I get the call for the BLRO I am thinking about flipping my BLNR for a TT CHNR just to add a splash of gold/variety to the collection. I feel like between a BLRO and DaytonaC my bases are pretty covered for everyday SS professional watches. Similar to what you did, selling the BLNR now would make a switch to the CHNR relatively painless.

The CHNR would be a great addition imho. The BLNR is a nice bit of leverage now (and who knows where it will go) and it certainly made sense for me, definitely helps in justifying the purchase.

I finally got to see one in person. Amazing watch. The blue is not as bright as I would prefer, but still awesome. I would love to get one at a reasonable price in the future.
