I still remain a Rolex fan

Who is with me?

20170716_112646-768x1024.jpg

There has been a lot of noise lately. I'm starting to ignore most of it. Just enjoy what you have if nothing else.

I’m a fan as long as they keep the brand intact.
No limited editions please.
Please stay the monolith that Rolex is.

I don’t love every Rolex, but that’s okay.

I love my Rolex; best watch I’ve ever owned or will ever own.

I have deep appreciated for Rolex as a company.

I have no brand loyalty. What I'm a fan of doesn't depend on a logo. Plus I have pretty narrow tastes for watches.

I’ll always be a die hard fan, despite their poor showing at Basel this year and the shortage. They will always be the best at what they do.

Yup. Personally, I wish the bottom would fall out of the demand and market. For me, owning > 25 Rolex watches.....this would be a significant financial hit. However, I didn’t buy my Rolex watches for investment or for display of wealth. I bought them and have collected them out of love.

I hate all the talk of investment, shortages, Grey market mark-up, and everything that goes along with these issues. However, I still love the watches

I agree. I feel like this hobby, for many as of late, is only about the event of purchasing a hot/popular watch and it’s very ‘cliquey’, since they all want to wear the same watch. I’m calling this group the WI$.

I’m also with you on this. No one talks about the love of the watches anymore, now it’s all about “ will this reference hold/increase in value ...blah blah “

I like their watches still but don't like the "attention" it has now. Don't love the allocation game either... Same with Patek.

I am with you. There will always be releases, updates, and discontinued models that we love, hate, and question. I have other watches in the collection but I mostly reach for the crown. The thing I hate is how the supply has dwindled. There are many who can’t get into the brand unless they pay a hefty premium or wait for years.

Seems contrarian to diverge from the popular flow. It’s pretty much a tidal wave! Time to buy The PM if not steel.

My opinion about Rolex has not changed one bit in spite of all the rumblings and negativity. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful AD, and have had a few wonderful Rolex models. Now, I have only one, the Sub 114060. My favorite, which I have had now for a few weeks.

I will be 70 years old this year, and still going strong. Blessed with good health. It is so necessary to keep a positive attitude. I have neither the time nor the emotional energy, nor the interest, to try and keep up with all these politics involved in gray market issues, prices, discounts, shortages, bad ADs etc. I try and sift through the threads now on the Rolex forums to find the ones with people who love watches and discussing them. That's why I'm here!

Cheers,
Carl

Sure, still have fun with my Rolex and I'm fortunate enough to still have all my Rolex, just feel bad the newbie/1s-timers struggling to get SS sport from AD.

I've been here for years now, at the beginning there was more WIS, now I think there're more investors.

Also there're many other great watch manufactures which I'm a fan of too.

They can’t help it their watches are phenomenal. And as someone else said, I basically have a very narrow taste in watches. Love them all, but only love to own a few. Specifically anything that says GMT on the dial. For me they are just the most functional watch of all. And nobody does it better than Rolex.

I am glad you're still a fan, but i have lost faith in the Rolex brand and there AD network. Extremely off putting strategy and this is coming from a repeat customer as well.

Great watches, excellent accuracy and well made. I've owned 13 over 50 years. Why go elsewhere?

I consider myself fortunate to have the watches I have. Are there others I would like to acquire, of course. However, my enthusiasm for the search has waned with all the scarcity of stock at ADs. I'm just not into paying over MSRP or bundling with stuff I don't want.
I'm starting to consider consolidating into some special pieces instead of acquiring more. Maybe keep my 16610, SD43, Daytona C and get a PM GMT and DD.
We'll see how things shake out.
