seamaster 300m diver - cant wear in shower?

OK, this is the second time this has happened to me. I have a sea dweller and the AD said i shouldnt get it wet.

Now, i have a seamaster diver 300m. The 2018 one. The omega AD said that i shouldnt wear it in the shower, or get it wet, that it wasnt designed for that.

Whats the deal here?

Why on earth would you not , iv heard all the myths about working under pressure to the Lockheed blackbird seals only working on expansion but geez if an AD told me that I’d walk out without the watch .

Funny. I guess we have to filter information, even from AD's.

This had previously happened at a rolex dealer with my sd. Omega AD now said the same thing - that the "water resistance" is not reliable, not warranted, and really for movies and adverstising, but this is a timepiece that shouldnt be exposed to water. Again, this is the 300M 2018 diver.

By the way, the 2019 titanium diver is beautiful for those wanting a monochromatic look with no date. But probably cant go in the shower either.

I guess make sure the water isn’t very hot, although you’d want that for yourself anyway. Screw the crown in and soap up. Just give it a good rinse. Maybe avoid hot baths and saunas, but other than the gym shower, why wouldn’t you take it off?
Advice for swimming in the sea is to rinse in tap water afterwards......maybe while having a shower...

You've been given erroneous advice. I've had speedmasters, seamasters, hulk, and a PO. Swam w all of them. No issues. You are way more likely to damage a watch by trying to "protect".

Great advice, safest place is on your wrist, I dove with my SD and never thought twice. I swim and shower with my Apple Watch on

Diver watches cannot get wet? Your ADs shouldn't be selling watches.

The more alarming one is that you were told that about your sea dweller. It had a helium escape valve for Christ’s sake....

I bought a 50m Speedmaster Moonwatch and was snorkeling in St. Thomas an hour later. 10 years hence, I showered with it today. Tell your AD they are full of crap.

I hope you are joking . There is very little that will damage your watch including taking a shower , washing the dishes, riding a bike, brushing your teeth, running in the rain, sweating , sneezing on your watch, chilling in a hot tub and/or Sauna, and diving 299 meters. Enjoy!

yes but this was an authorized dealer (not just an AD, but a boutique). So it was from omega basically. Sigh.

I will say, love the timepiece. For those waiting for a sub, this is a really nice alternative.

Unlikely. It wouldn't make sense to say those things as a joke when your trying to make a sale.

I think you have to rely on your own common sense. Plenty of people will say plenty of stupid things but filter out what is nonsense.
