WG Sub or WG Day-Date 40

I'm considering downsizing to a 2 watch collection and want a precious metal piece as one of them, the other is a Sea-Dweller 116600. I love Subs but have also always loved the president band on the Day-Date.

WG Sub or WG Day-Date 40 with blue dial?

The blue dial and bezel is nice on the white gold sub, but I really like all the dial colors on the white gold day-date right now. The olive and blue dials look really good in person and the black is always a great option too if you want something more subtle. Good luck, this is a tough call, but fortunately there’s no wrong answer here.

If you have a SD, then I would go with a DD

A DD is synonymous with YG for me.

That is a toughy... I had the Smurf for a year and one of my favorites.
But currently have WG Daytona and Want a WG Pepsi w/ New Blue Dial.
Those are better choices for a WG Rolex Sports Watch in my opinion.
But with your two options, I would go Smurf.
If you said WG DD40 w/ Olive Dial, it would be tougher.

I'm with you. The WG Daytona with blue dial would be a great choice.

I agree with jilo: DD = YG. In your case, you already have a Submariner-esque watch (the Sea-Dweller). Go for the DD. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

I own the WG sub but would lean to the DD since you already have a diver.

DD all day. If it was a one watch only scenario I would say sub.

Logically you have a sports/diver already so a dress would offer the most flexibility. That said, if you're not a dress type of guy, the WG sub is a hard one to pass up.

Both are beautiful.

I voted DD but change my mind after reading a good response. In YG 100% I’d go for the DD. But in WG..man I don’t like any of the dials except for maybe the green one. Smurf on the other hand, is my favorite sports PM.

Since your other watch is the SeaDweller it seems that the DD would give more variety.

This is very easy: DD.

Sub is meant to be ss model. A gold diver makes no sense to me, no offence to anyone.

I cannot think of a better pair than DD and SD.

WG Sub pairs great with 116600. While I love my DD, the bracelet isn’t as adjustable as the Glidelock.

That's a lot of heft there Mike!

However, it looks like your 2/10ths of a second off on one of your watches...

Your slippin man...

Yeah, my eye sight is slipping and it’s getting hard to see the second hand.

For me the choice would be easy: the Day-Date! You already have the sport watch covered.

kilyung whilst you are here, could you layout whether you bought the 116618 after the 116619 or other way around and how you feel about 116618 versus 116619. i'm seriously thinking about 116618LB (flat blue) and wondering if i am nuts since i have a 116619.

I got the 116718 YG GMT first, then the 116619, followed by the 116618. I love YG but the WG is great for being different. The YG flat blue is fantastic and if I didn’t have the WG flat blue then I’d have bought it. As it is the sunburst YG is spectacular.
