Can’t make up my mind...
I have been back and forth about this for over 2 weeks - I have a 114060 that I do think is awesome...but I’ve been considering a 16610 for the date function. Both of these fit my budget but the 116610 is still a little much to spend at the moment. I originally was going to get a 16610 because I use the date on all my watches daily...but was swayed by thinking I don’t actually NEED a date as my computer and phone have it...but as I’ve been wearing the 114060 I do love it, but would love it more with a date..not sure what to do...sell for 16610 or hold and save for a 116610? I like the fact that the 114060 seems rare as most subs I see are dates, also can’t do love the proportions of both as I see the positives in the maxi case and the traditional..pretty stuck with this one! Again, I currently have a 114060.

If you intend to build a collection, hold onto it. If you are a 1 watch guy, move it to fund a date model.
I got the 14060M, knowing I would add a date piece later on. |

I have a small collection of a couple SKXs a couple G-shocks and a Bulova precisionist and marine star (watches I purchased years ago that got me into the watch hobby). All of which have a date. I’ve toyed with the idea of being a more one watch person but that won’t truly ever happen. I do however want my sub to be a great all around watch which I think a date would be needed for that purpose, but again I do have other watches that have the date...so it’s also not totally necessary.

I think you answered your question I think deep down, do you want to save up a little bit and get the date. I know it’s a bit more expensive but if you compromise due to money and patients, you may regret it. This forum is full of posts from people who have done that and regretted it. If OP wants to be a 1-watch owner, then Sub date is the way to go since you rely on it. |

Just my .02...Keep the 114060 - it’s the only Sub you’ll ever need.
Wait and get something with a date later! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I initially told myself to hang on save and get a 116610. However, I’m also rethinking if I want the maxi case. I saw a guy with a 16610 the other night and while I was wearing my 114060, I found myself admiring his 16610. Def looks a little dressier without the maxi case, but since 2017 I’ve always wanted a SubC and now I have a dateless one...First world problems yes..

Now for someone like me who prefers the tapered look of the 5 digit case vs maxi case (it's slowly growing on me), I suspect that the only real option is a version of the sea dweller. But I'd try them on first. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G965W using Tapatalk |

Once it's strapped on and locked, it feels fine and secured, but it would (I imagine) hard to go back to the "old" style after having the newer bracelet, especially with the glidelock feature.

I was thinking of selling my 114060, getting a 14060M, and the picking up the 116610.
Or I just stick with the 114060 and wait for my CHNR |

Your first priority is to conclude for certain that the 114060 is not for you. Determining this will save you a lot of aggravation and also give you more time to hone in on what precisely you want. Best of luck.

Keep it. I thought the same for different reasons and I'm so glad I kept mine, out of my whole watch collection it is the one I always go back too.

Generally speaking, I’d rather add a piece than sell one to buy another.
To each their own, but I’d keep the Submariner and buy another reference with a date. |

Keep the 114060 and perhaps add a GMT down the road?

You made your mind...get the 16610 if that is your desire. Doesn’t matter what others think

I would keep the 114060 as I find it one of the most classic watches Rolex makes in the SS Sport models. A five digit watch, for me, does not work as well as I like the Glide Lock Clasp and the size and feel of the modern Submariner. A 5 Digit submariner is more than likely 10 years old or older and will show the wear and might need a service. Another $800 if nothing else is wrong. As far as the date goes I always think it is funny when people talk about using the date multiple times a day. Really. I know what day it was yesterday, so I know what day it is today. I also know what month it is and how many days are in each month and I even know when the next leap year is. So, I do not need a date function but if it is a design element in the watch that is there I am ok with it. It sounds like you might be a little bored, which is ok, I would keep what you have for 6 months or so and see where you are then. If you have the new watch bug then go find a cool Seiko for $500 and have some fun. Just my thoughts.

I'd keep the 114060 and look for a good example tritium 16610. Good luck on the hunt!!

I personally would keep the ND but it sounds like you are making a good argument to yourself for the 16610. It is your wrist and your happiness, so do what makes you smile when you see your wrist. Let us know what you pick!

For me the date is important and when ever I wear my Daytona or speedy miss the date function a great deal. Not a big deal as the speedy and Daytona see more action on the weekend or vacation when dates are not as important. But if you really like your current model, then keep it as clearly you are getting by without it. The issue is one of options, that is creating your dissatisfaction. The fact that you can trade for something else creates an endless loop of thinking, researching, plotting, buying, then thinking and so on... |

I felt same way as you. 114060 was cool but didn’t do it for me. I went to a 116610 and love it. I do like the 16610, it’s proportions are excellent. However, I think you will miss ceramic version. Again, I would 100% get 16610 over 114060, but I’d strongly recommend 116610 if you can swing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Everyone's input has been very much appreciated. I am aware these threads pop up often, but definitely a tough decision and I think my path will be to keep my 114060 and enjoy it until I save up a little more to flip it for a 116610. I think staying with the newer reference and adding the date will be the best for me.
