116710 BLNR Batman Market value
What does everyone think about paying a premium for an unworn piece such as the Oyster Batman. Do you see prices increasing or not?

Gut feeling. I’m prepared to wager £1000 (or whatever you’re comfortable with) that an 116710 will be worth 5000 more in 5 years time. Or a thousand more in one years time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I see prices increasing for them unworn, yes. The oyster is seemingly more desired than the new Jubilee version which has been received with mixed reviews.
I owned an oyster batman and I would save your money unless you dont plan to wear it and you think it will be some kind of investment piece. That piece for what it is commanding now just isn't worth the hype (imo). |

Yes got mine late 2018 for 9200 GBP. I remember some work colleagues at the time saying I should’ve been patient and joined a waiting list to pay MSRP. I’m glad I didn’t.

Around that time on the GMT some Cyclops had a pretty low magnification. Mine was far less than 2.5. Not a big deal in terms of resale or day to day. But given the choice I still wish it were a bit bigger. That may be one thing to consider.
So long as the papers check out I’m sure you’ll be fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I always post some shots on here before buying. It’s good for peace of mind and have been talked out of a few overpriced listings in the past. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you're going to wear it why pay a premium for an unworn one?

Indeed, my thoughts exactly. Complete waste of literally thousands for nothing. Wear it for 5 minutes and it becomes automatically worn and you’ve instantly lost thousands in value.
Buy used, wear, and enjoy. |

I say it’s a winner, wearing mine as I type. Looks great with denim.

Sometimes tempted to trade the Batman or Kermit for an AP RO. I think you can pick up an entry pre-owned for around 11k?
Only things putting me off are fear of the unknown, I sometimes hear they’re not all that reliable (compared to Rolex, at least read some stories of some having major trouble in early life) and possibly just regretting it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I recently traded for one and couldn't be happier. It's my favorite of the stainless steel line and I don't have interest in buying any of the other offerings. I feel this strongly about it that I am contemplating selling my SD43 MK1 but will probably just hold that for a while.
About a year ago I really wanted it and said I will not pay over asking and that was when the watch was around 10.5K-11K. I found a Deep Blue and bought that instead which is more than I would have paid with the premium for BLNR (me being stubborn). I recently found a member here who wanted to trade his BLNR for a Deep Blue and we met and made the trade. We were both happy with the deal. Basically I paid 13,300 after taxes on my original purchase to obtain my BLNR but I couldn't be happier. For me, it's the perfect watch and a forever keeper. Who knows what happens to the market but it's been steadily going up for a while... |

If it's THE one for you then I say go for it, don't see the prices coming down anytime soon
I was lucky enough to get mine under MSRP a few years ago and is definitely a keeper in my collection |

Last summer 2018 I bought my BLNR at UK msrp after a 5 month wait,
My friend bought one 2 months later at UK msrp and realised he didn't like it and offered it me for £7250 new an virtually unworn .........like a dope I turned him down. The same week I was offered the 2nd BLNR, I sold a new GMT LN at £ 100 below msrp ..............o the horror! still having nightmares about last years missed opportunities. |

Not a huge fan of the crazy Rolex market and I swore off Rolex two years ago with all the AD bs but for Father's Day I did pick up a lnib Batman for a solid premium over msrp as a gift. Hate it. I feel dirty. Of all the (many) over adm new Rolex steel sports models out there though, the Batman feels like the one to get since the disc. oyster bracelet and blue/black bezel color are a distinctly more sport oriented offering than the subsequent jubilee models. The jubilee is great (think it looks killer on the Pepsi) but it has a few years to run and maybe the market will cool in that time but the Batmans are done. Not saying prices are justified but I don't imagine Batmans will trade any less than the Rolex market as a whole.

The prices on the BLNR are ridiculous. I have noticed though that they aren't selling very fast when they are listed at 15-17k for the oyster bracelet or for 21-22k for the jubilee.
The daytonas price is absolutely ridiculous too. I thought it was bad at 18-19k when I got it. Now they want 23-24k but again they aren't selling very fast at those prices. Time will tell if the grey market will come down a little or if they are just gonna see how high they can go. |

All the grays need is one sucker to buy at the really high price to justify waiting it out.

Grey may have paid high as well and they need to make their margin
