Is it still possible to buy a SS Ceramic GMT II from an AD ?

Dear Friends ,

One of my friend ( a good customer of an AD here in France ) told me that last week he bought a brand new SS GMT Master II Ceramic (116710LN) from his AD ? Is it possible ? Isn't it discontinued 3 months ago ... mentioned in the Baselworld 2019 ?

Kindly waiting your opinions ,

Thanks.

I saw one being purchased new from an AD 2 weeks ago, along with a 41mm DJ.

Yes, whatever stock was still in production at the time of Basel was most likely sent out. Doubtful there are any 116710 BLNRs floating around, though, since the majority of the parts are used in the new model 126710 BLNR. The LN parts (green hand and black bezel) don't transfer to any new model, so they are probably using some up to clear house.

Congrats ! You are very lucky !

Even if they will make a new SS C GMT with new movement next year or when ever , i think the 116710LN with Green hands is very special ... It is and will be a perfect watch in the Rolex history ...

I feel the same. Thought it was one of Rolex best watches. I don't understand discontinuing it and putting their GMT's on a Jubilee bracelet, either way people will buy them so it doesn't matter much I guess.

Very interesting ... it is discontinued and more then 3 months passed ... i am sure Rolex did not send them to the AD 3 months ago because in that case they have been already sold , including me , i am sure many people went to their AD and asked if they still have SS GMT C after we learned from the Baselworld the discontinued subject ... so probably Rolex still send them to their ADs... Probably the last ones ...

Yep. My AD had mentioned there are still few new GMT LN floating mysteriously around the world. Made and shipped prior to 2019 Basel announcement.

Supply chain, worldwide shipping, warehouses, large chains having stock. All these factors mean that something discontinued 3 months ago could easily still be in post-manufacturing retail network.

Just because it's discontinued doesn't mean dealers no longer have them. Ah, as has been said there are many ways one could still pop up at an AD.

I just talked to a sales rep from an AD in California.
He told me he had one on hold for his customer, so I think there are a few still out there.

My AD offered one to me last week, 12th June. I, obviously, snapped it up. Looks like quite a few were sent to ADs that week because, on a UK Rolex Forum, there were a number of incomings of the LN. It hadn’t been sat in the safe since March, it had literally just come in and the Manager had been thinking about who to offer it to. Looks like I was the lucky one.

It's definitely possible. About 2 weeks ago I missed one by about 30 minutes. I walked into one of my AD's and a guy was trying one on and thinking it over. He ended up getting it. My salesguy said they had gotten it and put it out on display as they didn't have a waiting list for it. I told him to put me down as the first for the next one.

Wowww ... interesting informations ... thank you guys ..

It is a very beautiful Rolex and monday i'll visit few ADs and will try my chance ...

I think the opportunity of finding a brand new GMT LN in an AD will not last long as it is already discontinued 3 months ago ...

Yes. Once a watch is discontinued, it doesn't mean it's pulled from the shelves, just that they won't be producing more after current stock is exhausted.

I'm sure there's a few pieces out there still. Keep searching.

As well as many for sale by private sellers. A short visit to RSC makes for an almost brand new watch.
