PM + SS bundle by AD question

I've read often on these forums about ADs "bundling" together PM and SS models: ie, offering a hot SS sports model for purchase if the customer simultaneously purchases a more expensive/less popular PM model. I've also heard that you can often get significant discounts on PM models by themselves. So question: in the cases of PM + SS bundle deals, should you expect to not get any discount on the PM model? If you should still expect a discount on the PM, is it less than if you were just purchasing a PM alone?

i was told by AD in Vancouver, Canada....that one needs to buy $100k in PM models of the non-professional variety (ie DJ or DD) before you can be put on the list for SS Daytona. Only a list?! WTF? With no guarantees when you will get SS Daytona.

I said kiss my A$$ and no thx!

Over the years I have bought more than the $100K in Rolex watches. If I could ever find an AD that didn't make me feel like they were doing me a favor by selling me a Rolex, I would have bought all of the watches from that AD. I get tried of how an AD makes me feel I am lucky to spend more money on a watch then some of the employees make in a year.

You are lucky to spend more money on a watch than they make in a year. Don’t ever forget that.

Sanctimonious ADs and sanctimonious customers always seem to find each other. Funny that.

Spot on!

All the faux angst over high end luxury jewelry is both humorous and sad at the same time.

PM discounts have all but gone in major cities now so when bundling most ADs won't give any discount.

I’ve been told this too, but when a sale is on the line some play ball and others don’t. Think if it’s been in the case for 3 months...they’ll probably budge.

With how Rolex scarcity is developing, most likely you aren't even getting discounts on PM pieces unless they are perhaps PM ladies pieces. Usually bundling would work like this PM piece selling x under retail+SS piece selling x over retail get sold for retail combined. If PM is selling at MSRP though, why would ADs bundle them with SS when they can sell them any moment.

It is a numbers game with the AD's and bundling. They have a hot SS model that they can sell at any point at full retail and need to move the PM at full retail to make it work. As a customer you pay full retail on a PM and then take a 20-40% hit on resale or trade value unless it is a YG Green dial Daytona or other desirable PM model and they will never bundle that. If it is for the white dial Daytona-C then the numbers in the current market can still work. If it is for the new Batman or Pepsi maybe/maybe not. Own the watches for a while and you could lose big with the PM. Let the market soften up on the Daytona-C and you could get crushed if you move the watches. If you are buying to keep it might be a good way to access the SS watch. Good luck.

I bought a TT Sub , at MSRP two weeks ago.
Last week I bought a TT Datejust, with a 15% discount.
I would not have received the discount , if I didn't buy the Sub first.
I was not told this directly by the AD, but it was hinted.
It all depends on the AD , and the area you live in.

Ads need to make a living too. They get around 2% on the sales. If you don’t have money to play don’t waste your time.

No. I think that's incorrect in many cases.

Agree. Sales team comp is obviously an AD-level decision - there is no standard here. However, I know a couple of large ADs (multiple locations) in different part of the US are not in the practice of having commissions make up a portion of their sales employees' comp.

I am telling the truth. Ads make money by commission. If you don’t have money don’t buy the pieces. Lol

In my case, bought Pepsi at MSRP and bought wife’s dream Presidential at a hair shy of 20% off.

Buy any PM model only because you actually want it and will wear it often for the long haul. None of them hold their full MSRP value over time but then that was never the point.

I’m one who had posted on this offer. In the AD who offered thus to me (not my normal AD), you had to pay full MSRP on PM before you get BLRO or 500C also at MSRP

I would just wait and find a different AD. You're gonna spend more initially then take the hit on the depreciation on the PM. You'll lose twice.
