Just a little condition of purchase...

Given many members attitudes regarding conditions of sale, ala holding warranties and forced bundles as acceptable, it occurred to me;

Would you quack like a duck to get a hot reference?

voices/accents/noises are a strong suit and a point of pride; they could just ask me nicely and I’d give it a go.

There is so much big talk from UK folks about how they ALMOST walked out etc.

I'm yet to see anyone actually say no to the watch over this policy.

If you told people a few years back they would be on waiting lists/empty cases and romancing their local AD for the mere chance to buy a watch they would have lot and said they would never do it.

It's the new normal and as a sellers market at retail, people will suck it up.

That’s cool, but the AD wants to hear you quack. In the store.

Would you do it?

May be if I was a flipper/profiteer, which I'm not. Too much self-respect, plus it is just a watch!

Not sure if quacks mean something else than making an animal sound and if so not sure why any AD would ask for that. Stupid question.

If the question was would you quack a little for 9k, sure I’d probably do that but again nobody is stupid enough to offer it.

Nothing to do with stupidity, just capricious whim.

I'd do that before I buy a diamond Datejust to gain favor...but realistically would do neither. I have enough watches.

Newer than most here, but IMHO, the way to
frame this is to think about it the way I/we should anytime something is outside of our control. I will present this in Q&A format in the context of the situation with our beloved watch brand:

Is this within my control? No
Do I like it? Depends, but not really.
Do I understand it? Yes
Can I influence the outcome? Somewhat, but at a local level only
Does this really matter in the big scheme of things? No
Can I accept it? Yes, but it may influence future decisions

Not trying to preach at all here. This is how I have come to terms with it. So, the bottom line for me is that I accept all that is happening because I can still get the Rolex I want at MSRP (albeit with a short wait, and if I don’t, it doesn’t matter). If was an AD in this environment, I probably would do the same thing.

No integrity around here. Quacking for a watch smarten up! I will quack if I want but no one will make me quack!

I do it (and stupider crap...) every day with my toddler, might as well do it at the AD. I have no shame.

I'd go one step further and bock like a chicken while doing the chicken dance. I've done more for less.
