This arrived today, after several years of lusting after this reference and my first Patek. I finally saved up enough, and came across this one for sale here on TRF by Peter (WXwatches, Lee2375) and was able to get it for what I think is a fair price. He's a class act, and was a pleasure to deal with for anyone in the market for a watch.

I love the slate dial and classic proportions of the 5146g, and hope to really wear this watch often. I am a die-hard Rolex fan, but this timepiece really speaks to me. It came with a brown strap, which frankly I don't think looks very good with the dial, so I am planning to source a grey strap most likely from my AD. I think it will add to this watches ability to straddle both formal and casual setting very well.

I contemplated the 5146p, and nearly pulled the trigger on one, but tbh in the end I simply couldn't justify the price premium (for me and my financial situation). After all, I can get the Hulk I've also been salivating over and have change left over, so when you think about it that way, it seems pretty significant.

Thanks! I know I just think brown isn't my thing...

I think it will look nice with the grey, I love the grey strap on the 5146p.

On that subject... Do you set the day, date and moon phase with the crown in the open or closed position?
