Super Dry in Europe

lol I just want to update the status of Rolex in Europe
I have started from London to France, Swiss, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Not a single professional sport available, even the sub. I have tried to buy the Daytona Steel, but the chance is none lol

It is clearly on purpose. It may very well be that a price hike is on the way.

An over retail pre owned price is a badge of honour for luxury brands. Rolex is happy with the situation, imho.

Well I can assure you they're selling them, just not to tourists.

I'm not sure why you think you'd find a Sub, or that you feel it's the lowest of sports models. So low that it should at least be found in 1:10 places.

Nahhh, man. The Sub isn't going to be found anywhere for a tourist, and it certainly should be considered just as hard to get as a GMT right now.

OP's, DJ's and PM's. I can save everybody time from visiting AD's

I've only been doing this for a year but I have been in around 10 AD's. Never seen a SS Sub, GMT or Daytona. 2 AD's wanted to buy my 14060M (It's in really good shape). A little sad and a little fun.

Five years ago, I saw two Daytona’s on one trip to Asia. The two story shop in HK airport, and another dealer in Taiwan. Too bad I never liked the steel bezel.

I haven’t seen anything in years...

My buddy is in Florence now & saw a 214270 for sale in the Rolex shop that’s not on the Ponte Vecchio.

Expect UK stocks of all models to get snapped up, the way that GBP is trading down as a hard Brexit becomes more likely.

I did this same type of search on a European trip last year.
The current situation just takes the fun right out of it.
Can’t see, wear , hold a watch you’re interested in.
“Nothing to see here “ should be on a sign in a Rolex AD window.
All models are available from grey dealers so they’re now like an AD ie there’s actually no exciting rarity value “hard/lucky to get “ situation at all. Just pay way more any day of the week and order from a grey.
Hell I can walk into my Omega AD and be treated well and buy any model, like was once possible with Rolex ADs.
I am just keeping the Rolexes I have and getting off the treadmill of futility that is “Rolex shopping 2019”
Anyone out there feel the same?

It’s a vicious circle as one day the hype dies down people lose interests hunting down the watch. Who knows. Piece of advice would be buy tt models before they vanish completely

Perhaps this is a way to make 1/2 the ADs decide to drop Rolex to limit distribution and/or pave the way for more company owned boutiques.
Force the jewelers to spend big money on large displays, prominent signage, etc. then withhold stock, lower sales temporarily, dealers jump ship, boutiques open, 3 years from now the spice flows again.

I saw an SS Sub at my AD. I was wearing it when I walked in.

Closest near miss for me in 2019 was Nicosia. A Blusey and a Polar on display, available to buy. Along with a slew of OPs, three 40mm YMs and a couple of DJs. Best display I've ever seen. I asked about a GMT Master and a SS Sky Dweller. "Very difficult. Can't help. Sorry. Bye." I expect they get hundreds of walk ins. They were polite, although they could have done with a revolving door.

Our local AD has DJ's and various pure metal and TT but ss sports never hit the window.

Your chances of a sub as a walk up are zero, I'd imagine most of europe is the same.

Can you buy grey and get the vat back?

The only Sub Date I've seen at my AD which wasn't on a wrist was a Smurf. And that didn't last long.

But you're a foreigner. These days they sell only to locals unless you're at an airport AD. When visiting Munich I was told "Go back to your home country and buy a Rolex there. Now please enjoy the rest of your vacation with your family!"

Sage advice...
