What came first poll..

How many of you joined or lurked on TRF before acquiring your first Rolex, and how many discovered TRF while already owning one?

Just curious..

Before.

I tend to research everything before I buy it, and while hunting for information on the Rolex that caught my eye, I joined this wonderful place. Been enabling me ever since.

Lol! I was on timezone.com for years before I found TRF. I was all about non-Rolex watches. Had breitling and a roger dubuis easy diver back then. Even after I had my first two Rolex (both now gone) I still stayed on timezone. It was good back then... now TRF is the place to be.

I joined TRF after I already decided I wanted a Submariner. It was very helpful. Actually it reenforced my enthusiasm to move forward with the purchase.

When I bought my first Rolex the interweb did not exist.

I bought my first Rolex in 1964.

Just a little while before TRF existed, In fact a lot before the internet existed.

I voted after, but I need to qualify my post.

I discovered TRF after I had my first Roles, but before the sickness began.

Before. I found this website researching models. Was hooked and ended up buying through DSW a 116710LN for about 7300. Before that it was Breitling and before that TAG and before that Swiss Army.

Before.....as in literally yesterday. But I'll be wearing one by the end of the year. Short list includes Milgauss, Sub with date, or GMT MasterII (AD gods willing).... But that's the thing with these forums, I could be in an entirely new direction in a week.

When I got my first Rolex, the internet was but a twinkle in Al Gore's eye.

I must have seen a photo of the 4112 Cellini somewhere and fell in love with it.
I then joined TRF to 'research' it and at that point realised that there was a world of interesting watches out there and that Rolex was the brand I liked best.

Fun poll. However, there is going to be a (large?) population of users that acquired their first Rolex before TRF and the internet existed. So for those people there was no alternative.

I would make a third option to capture these.

I am older and have been involved with Rolex for almost 30 years so my Rolex purchases predate the Forum. If this Forum had of been around I would have researched with it, but no.
