Franken Submariner 5513/2

Hello friends!

I have long been obsessed with the notion of purchasing submariner parts and having a watch maker assemble them into Frankenstein submariner. I am usually a very “stock and original” person, but the idea of taking unused and dissimilar parts and using them to create a beloved everyday wear is romantic to me. I currently wear my fathers air king everyday and also have a 1967 datejust.

I have wanted a 5513-5512 for a long time and haven’t quite found exactly the one I’m looking for in my budget.

I understand this would not have the equivalent value, but what are your thoughts on this?

I am a very new member and just beginning my Rolex journey so all input is appreciated.

I found this 1570 movement which looks to be in good shape.

What else would I need?

I don't know anything about putting a watch together and I can appreciate your desire to 'create' something, but if it's anything like restoring a car, then just go find one that's already done/original. It will be cheaper and more valuable in the long run.

Auto bridges can be swapped between 1500 series movements (especially common on watches that have been serviced); Unless the watch has seriously been confirmed as a 1570 I would be hesitant to purchase unverified.

Currently I own a project watch similarly to what you are after/describing; It is fun & I wear it as a beater. Parts are hard to find especially stripped/original cases. Wouldnt recommend a project like this unless you are willing to invest both a considerable amount of time & resources.
