Incomming; FP Journe Octa Linesport

Added a second FP Journe to the lineup, it's the previous generation Octa Linesport, Titanium 42mm, movement is aluminum and the watch weighs basically nothing. Hands down the most comfortable watch I own.

I was in the market for a premium sports watch, I had an AP Royal Oak 15400 for a few years, but prices have been going crazy on it, and the lack of micro-adjust made it not great for those hot summer days in NYC. I know this will come off a bit conceited, but it kind of lessened the appeal of the watch when I see so many of them around town. Two guys on my block have them, and usually when I go out to eat I see at least one floating around. When my 16 year old nephew commented on my AP I knew it's gotten to the point, at least where I live to the mainstream. Seamed like the right time to move watch out of the collection.

For some reason, wearing a Rolex doesn't bother me in the same way as the AP, perhaps it's because the Rolex is a real tool watch, and not just a dress watch/status piece like the AP.

Anyway, I would love to keep the AP, but I wanted a few other watches more. A few of the RM watches are tempting, but I don't think there is much value there, and could find one that I liked in my budget. The VC overseas was tempting as was the the new Urban Jurgensen. I was even considering a PM Rolex Daytona, but, after trying on the Journe, that did it for me.

The design, initially polarizing, grew on me. There isn't another watch it's trying to look like. The movement is gorgeous, and 5-7 day power reserve is so convenient. A big date should be a more popular complication, as now I can actually easily tell the date. Lume is fantastic and dial is so legible. All over the watch there are just so many details, the rotor moves like a rocket with just the slightest twitch. The real standout feature is the comfort, the rubber inserts on the bracelet allow sweat to evaporate and soften the feel on the wrist, this, combined with the weight makes the watch disappear on the wrist, even of the hottest and stickiest days.

I haven't seen many of these online, and I've only seen only one Journe Sport in the wild, someone was wearing the Centigraph Sport at Alenbi in Crown Heights (din't want to bother him, as he was engrossed in conversation), however considering the price of many Royal Oak, Nautilus, RM and even Rolex models I think more should consider a Journe Sport Line.

Congratulations! It's a really cool piece that doesn't get a lot of love, yet anyway.... I wouldn't mind seeing a release with a bit more stealthy colorway.

Quick question. Is there a micro-adjust on the bracelet, or something similar to the Easylink on a Rolex?

I'm not sure what you mean, in titanium, you can go for all grey, which very super low key, or grey and yellow which is very loud.

Yes, there is a half link adjustability in the clasp that you can use on the fly.

I have had a FP Journe Octa Sport for last 4-5 years and wore it everyday for a long time. I agree, it is the most comfortable watch on a bracelet that I have ever owned and you rarely see it in the wild, which I like as well.

I would let the water resistance bother you, I’ve heard direct that the watch is swimable, and that’s all most of us would do with a watch that costs this much.

There are no scratches on the titanium or rubber and I will post photos when I get a chance.

I took a good look this morning and there is not a single mark on the watch or bracelet after a few years of daily wear. Unfortunately, I was unable to post photos.

Congrats! I LOVE the placement of the rubber pad on the side of the case for putting your watch down, it's a nice touch. The watch is so light it is kinda freaky and even the new yellow dials are starting to grow on me. Stopped by the journe boutique and honestly one of the best experiences ever, very chill, the sa clearly knew and loved watches, legit good time.

Super. It took a long time for this one to grow on me, similar to you it seems. But with more exposure I liked it more and more to the point now that I’ve been looking at the Centigraphe for about two years.

The refresh of the Sport line, and the upsize in case diameter has reinforced my desire for the older reference.

Your CS is also my favourite Dial iteration of all. A 38mm PT CS with the white gold Dial is another Journe on the short list.

The yellow is not for me, I but I totally get the apeal, the NYC boutique is fantastic.

That's both good and bad, at least it's a decent store of value. The new size doesn't wear as large as many think since the watch has basically no lugs and the bracelet is articulating. The ceramic bezel is a big difference as well.

Yeah, their sports line takes time to appreciate. The Centigraph sport is amazing, the bigger size doesn't wear so large as there are no lugs, but I do prefer the 42mm.

I love my CS in Platinum, thanks. I have never seem a 38mm with a gold dial.

Thanks! I hear ya, I think as a brand they have a style that translates to all their models, so if you are into that I get it. The quality, innovation and wearability and most pieces make them stand out .

I don’t think they will wear out too quickly, they are quite hard, and a quality rubber strap can last for many years, I’ve worn some for about 20 years and they still look good. However, FP Journe can replace/repair them if needed. Certainly rubber won’t last as long as steel, but I doubt within any reasonable timeframe will it pose a problem.

As an aside, metal bracelets can wear out as well, take a look at pretty much any vintage watch with a metal bracelet, most are not in great shape, have loads of stretch etc..
