Australian servicing
i just called up Rolex Australia to ask what the rough costs of a servicing is, and told me that once i bring it in, they will get me a quote the next day which i thought was pretty good.
but then she went onto say that the prices start at $700! and generally 4-5 weeks for servicing. now i think the crown winding on mine is in need of a servicing, as i can kind of feel it skipping gears. and also no matter how i position the watch overnight, i lose -2 seconds. i know thisis within COSC specs, but it doesnt gain any seconds. any have any info on their watches while it went in for a serve in australia thanks |

I was about to send mine last year to Melb RSC, but then I bring it to Jakarta RSC while I'm there and because their standard work is around 2 weeks.
Wow, last year they said the $$ start from $600 and 6 weeks is the standard. |

In my experience you would be lucky to get a service at the Australian RSC for under AUD$1K, but remember the AUD is not a strong currency at the moment....

Doesn't surprise me at all. In 2003, they were charging ~ $450, in 2006, they were charging about ~ $600. Took about 4-5 weeks on both instances. I guess it will be more if you need parts replaced.
I think other markets have more favourable rates. Why does Australia always get the short end? |

Seven hundred for the basic service sounds about right. My last service on an EXP2 was about 1.6K AUD but this involved a new bezel at $200, a new older type non fliplock bracelet at $600, new crystal and new hands. The newer bracelet was an additional $600.
A few months ago I was playing around on ebay and won a 1988 ladies TT DJ. This needed a bracelet rebuild in Geneva, new crystal and new hands. I also enquired about a new bezel. Quoted cost was 2.3K AUD plus about $700 for the bezel. All up this 20 year old watch was going to cost about 5K. I ended selling the watch to the Watch Gallery at a small loss and bought my wife a new TT DJ for a few thousand more. |

my sapphire crystal has small nicks in it.
how much does a new crystal costs? also do they give you an options of what you want to be replaced (bracelet, crystal), or do they quote it and say this is whats going to get done and this is what its going to cost? |

On the EXP2 the bezel replacement was an option.
I'm pretty sure that Rolex will not hand back a watch with what consider to be a damaged crystal or bracelet. |

I didn't know there was a service centre in Sydney! I thought there was only just the one in Melbourne. Or at least that's what the booklets and web site say.

Sorry, but I would have to disagree, I believe it is part of Rolex. Rolex Head Office is in Melbourne, but the Sydney Service Centre is part of the Australian operations.
