Patek 5270 revisited.

In a thread I started a few weeks ago I was considering various perpetual calendars and now I have likely narrowed down. to the Patek 5270. Now there are various past and present versions as I am sure many if not. most of you know. I have narrowed it down to the following.

White gold silver dial-- oldest production. I like the texture of the dial. No tachymeter on this version. While tachymeters are not really useful for me, I kind of like them. I was able to see one in person and good readability.

White gold Blue dial--- have not seen in person and while I love blue dials.. have a fair number of blue dial watches.

Platinium Salmon dial... This one is probably my favorite. Did see one in person. I have mixed feelings about having the numerals on the dial. I generally like to have them on the dial but the fact they are incomplete bothers me a little. Overall, I like this one a bit more in terms of the blue or white dial--I do like all 3 and the cost differential and is it worth it (subjective of course).

Are u buying grey or at AD? If u are buying grey I would suggest moving to a split second.

By split second, are you referring to the 5204? Even at pre-owned, I believe the 5204 are at a significantly different price point compared to the 5270G and a fair amount higher than the 5270P.

I have tried on both the 5204P black and white dials. They are both quite nice, but it is really a "collector's watch".

I was thinking the 5370P on the secondary market for about 200k. Probably could negotiate down a little.

Found a photo of all 8 versions before the P version

Here are the different versions side by side. Did not realize there is a white dial with blue numbering

The best value on the used market is the 5270G-001 which you are considering. I see these as low as 105K. Heck of a value.

I would get the salmon from AD-- the older versions probably well established re-seller.
I have the Lange Double Split and the RM 004-- which is split Chrono

I will get the salmon. Patek does not do a lot of salmon dials and this is one spectacular looking salmon.

This is coming from one who loves blue.

Beautiful!
Not my watch but a good friend's.

As far as I know that is a Patek strap. I'm sure he can chime in.

I have the salmon and would go that route. That being said- if I were offered a blue one now, and the price was right I’d buy it. I personally think they are all overpriced. Also the salmon isn’t sticking around for too long.

This. I personally prefer the models (don't know the references) that show day, date, and month in separate windows and not sub dials but that is me.

I like both types of displays.. I have the Patek 5960 annual calendar with such a display
