Kennedy Space Center - NASA

Wife and I took the boys to The Kennedy Space Center this weekend. Good history lesson, and it's amazing how large these rockets are.

I sold it to help fund the snowflake. No regrets whatsoever.

Very cool - yes also have memories of visiting as a lad. I’m sure your boys will remember it for many years to come too.

Been there four times, always a lot of fun.

I highly recommend the VIP tours.

Lifelong Central FL resident, numerous launches and landings. As a middle schooler, I was at KSC the day before Challenger took her final flight, and watched her break apart in the sky from school 40 miles away the next day.
That double bang of a sonic boom as the shuttle flew home would wake me with a start and a smile. The first time I saw the Atlantis exhibit, I was left shocked, nostalgic, tearful, and speechless at the introduction.

Probably my favorite theme park, tied to so many wonderful and terrible memories.

I miss seeing the shuttle night launches. I remember seeing the challenger from top of a building in Orlando. It was in the 20”S I think that morning.

Those night launches were great! I could walk down to the intersection, and have a great view as the eastern sky went from black to muted orange, and then a finger of flame rose above the horizon. Two minutes later, you could watch the glowing red boosters fall away and drop toward the ocean. What an amazing time to be a kid in Central Florida!

Been there many times as a kid - then in later life, KSC & NASA were a customer while I was at a certain large comm co.

Only saw one launch when I was at Amelia Island for a conference - and even from that distance it was amazing.

It is great to take kids/g’kids there to better understand the evolution of early space travel before it becomes a commercial flight business. History books can’t give the same impression as the hardware itself.

If you ever have the chance, the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in WDC is a great prequel or intro coupled with KSC.

I've been to the Smithsonian a few times; we just haven't taken to the kids to DC yet but plan to in the future.

Air shows and trips to aviation museums are what made me want to become a pilot, which I was lucky enough to do for a little over a decade in the Navy.

My favorite would be the Pensacola Naval Air and Space Museum...though I'm biased, as that was my home for flight school, haha. Either way, it is truly an amazing collection of aircraft.

My eldest loves rockets (who didn't at that age), and I'm hoping trips like this keep him engaged enough to want to pursue something like this in the future. I always tell him - you gotta go to college...even though he's only 4.

I just saw the Apollo 11 documentary on a flight home. Excellent film, I highly recommend it. Really well done editing of archival 65mm footage of the mission, from the launch to the landing and back home.

It is well worth the visit. I went with my wife and son a few years ago when we were visiting my Mom, she lives about 1/2 hour south of there.

The Apollo attraction is simply amazing.

I was just there a few weeks ago. Was the first time I've been in over 15 years. I grew up in Florida going there every year or so, but it's changed so much. Well worth a visit. Glad you enjoyed it!
