My First Rolex - Explorer 214270 MK2

Hey guys!

Just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new to the forums. So I've always dreamed of getting a Rolex and growing up my favorite Rolex was the Submariner. I just turned 25 years old a few weeks ago and decided that I wanted to get myself a nice birthday present. So I started researching one different watches to get and wasn't sure if I was ready to put a lot of money into a luxury timepiece so I started looking into Tudor watches, specifically the Tudor BB58. I was pretty much ready to purchase it but then took a step back and felt that I was just buying a Tudor because they are apart of Rolex because ultimately I wanted a Rolex...

Fast forward to last week, I went to my local AD and was just going to look around and I obviously knew that I would never find a submariner there. So I started looking online and was looking at the pre-owned market. I started watching youtube videos on Rolex watches and came across a video by Bark and Jack - "Best Everyday Rolex - Explorer vs Submariner". I was never a fan of the Explorer partly because I was blinded by the submariner. I started looking into the Explorer 214270 Mk2 and pretty much fell in love with it. Again started doing more research and just loved that this is something I can wear everyday and not be afraid to get it torn up like the submariner.

Today I finally just gave in and purchased a pre-owned Rolex Explorer through DavidSW and should be here Tuesday! I'm excited for where this journey takes me and hope to expand the collection eventually.

This thread will be for My First Rolex - Explorer 1. Will add pictures of where this watch takes me! Sorry if I dragged this along! Cheers!

Perfect reference for your first Rolex! I got my first one last year when I turned 26 as a gift to myself. It’s a slippery slope from here especially if you visit TRF often lol.

Congratulations and welcome to the forums! I think you picked one heck of a first Rolex and honestly, a watch that can be your one and only. It is classy, dressy, casual, easy to wear, and timeless. Looking forward to seeing the incoming pictures!

Hard to argue with a classic Explorer for your first Rolex. Not really sure you can tear up a Submariner any easier, but what’s important is you found one you fell in love with. Enjoy the heck out of it!!!

I appreciate many brands and styles...and have no desire to be a one watch man. But if forced to, there aren't many better choices.

Congratulations! Good choice on the Explorer, it's certainly one of the most versatile watches Rolex makes. The design is timeless simplicity, and could very easily be the only watch you wear.

Mine says hello. Been on my wrist every single day since april, when I bought it from the same seller as you - DavidSW!
