5168g

Curious as to what you folks think of this watch.

My AD called and I can go and pick it up. I am excited about the opportunity, and I really do like the watch a lot.

But it was not on my radar and I would not want to flip it if it doesn't stick. I simply don't want to ruin the relationship with my AD. I really like them a lot.

I am also hoping they can get me a 5164r.

I don't want to pass up an opportunity....but of course it is a lot of $$$.

Curious as to the consensus of the Patek group here.

If you're "excited and really like the watch a lot" then why not? Its a great watch

I like everything in the beginning. Often that passes.

For me... it’s too big big and flat. The 5167 would be better. Also it’s probably one of the less desired. The green cause it’s new and it’s worth more gets attention

If u are not going to flip it...I wouldn’t take it

Personally I’m not a fan. I’m not convinced by the dimensions, I don’t think it works. Overall, I was underwhelmed when I saw one in person.

I really like the look of the 5168G, primarily because it’s blue.

But I’ve never tried it on and since I already have a 5164A, I personally would probably wait for something else to come along that’s more compelling. In my case, I hope to pick up a 5711A at some point, but there’s no rush.

Superdog, if the Aquanaut you really want to add is a 5164R, then you’re probably right to take a pass on the 5168G unless you want to (and can afford to) amass an Aquanaut collection as another recent poster has (very impressively) almost completed. It just comes down to what you really like and what resources you’re willing to commit.

I see you already made your decision and I think you made the right call. Perhaps a “congrats” is appropriate for not pulling the trigger. And I think this is one of those times, so congrats on your decision.

Personally not a fan of the large case.

Blue or green?

I own the blue one and I like it. Patek watches without complications should be flat imo. Regarding size, very much depends on your wrist. Not something for a small wrist, but goes well on medium and large.

I know I am in the minority, but I like it more than the 5164a, which has a similar price. The heft of the gold make it feel like a real luxury sports watch while remaining understated.

I'd go for the 64r, better proportions and has a sunburst dial.

I personally want one of these...I love the larger case though I am nervous how thin it is. My grail Aqua is the 5968 with the orange strap but would definitely take one of these as I wait!

Gradient dial, black around the edge to blue in the middle. Looks awesome in real life. 40K time only aquanaut no thanks.

Yes I love how it looks. I said the same thing when it was announced. So disappointed it wasn’t closer to 30k but that’s the market we are in.

Agree. Same dial, 38 or 40mm rather than 42mm, and SS for 20k, and I am in.

It’s a great watch. If you have a big wrist, the dimensions are great. An unbelievable daily wearer in almost any situation

Obviously for me, I am with MrNautilus on this. It is a great watch to include the size, gold, and that blue dial is super. Not for the small wristed, though.

Wow maybe that is a sign of the market. I have to admit I thought about messaging you myself and then said...I’m not going to be THAT GUY
