Why is the Yacht Master not as popular as the other sports models?
It truly baffles me why the current yacht master is not as popular some other models in the Rolex range. I personally think it’s a beautiful watch, specifically the version with the slate grey dial.

What a splendid watch! The dial with blue hands is mesmerizing. I would have bad time trying to take my eyes off that dial.
Tell me about the bezel, is it as they day hard to maintain due to the titanium material. I've heard that if it scratches it becomes hard to polish. |

I think scratches will show much less on this than the Daytona gold bezels which are smooth and uniform. |

Platinum I meant.
Thanks for the info, and your right, this bezel should show less scratches than a smooth bezel. Amazing piece. The new one Rolex introduced this year on rubber strap is breathtaking. Too bad it's not steal. Quote:

I like it too. Especially the rose gold on oyster flex.
The YM popularity threads normally distill down to two main points. Not as much history as a sub or gmt. Not quite a sports watch and not quite a professional watch so awkwardly placed on its own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have 2 “classics” Sub and Datejust plus an SD4K. Have to say my YM 9bluedial) to my taste anyway is the best looking, as well as being the most comfortable.

In general, the YMs are gorgeous watches - beautiful dial choices available.
Can only speak for myself, but to me the deal breaker is the bezel. Just don’t like the way platinum looks. Having said this, my next purchase next spring will be an YM, the 126655. Obviously, it has the ceramic bezel

Also don’t like the bezel or pricepoint.

Why is the Yacht Master not as popular as the other sports models?
Not popular in the SubTona forums yes. Like every other Rolex that isn’t a Daytona or a Submariner.
In the real world, all Rolex are selling just fine. |

This is like one of those Buddhist koans like what is the sound of one hand clapping. In other words, it is inscrutable.

I’ve always felt the blue dial 116622 was very underrated.

Cool piece, one of my watchbox favorites. A dressy sports watch for almost all occasions. Its refined appearance makes it look feminine to some and I wouldn't be surprised if this was the main reason for its lower popularity.

It isn't as popular because it is not as aesthetically pleasing or as likeable.
In everything that is based on popularity, somebody has to be the last kid picked for the team.

I love them, however decided to stick with ceramic bezel for long term wear

Price. Somebody who "wants a sport Rolex" would rather pay $8500 for a Sub Date than $12,000 for a YM. This of course when you could just walk in a buy a Sub, which is why the YM is getting harder to get now.

This. It’s an underrated reference IMO but many find it expensive. I love mine with the sunburst blue dial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not too many “Yachtsmen” around these days. Easier to imagine you are a diver or explorer.

Love this post. I do think “imagine” is the key tho. For most of us anyway.
