Submariner just started running fast.

First of all I totally understand that +2 seconds per day is well within specs and I should be happy. But...

Bought the watch a year ago. It has always been incredibly accurate. Literally spot on 0/0 every day. I could literally set it, wear every day, and check weeks later and it would still be perfect. I usually check against the government atomic clock site.

Last weekend I was hammering in some stakes into my yard, holding them with my left watch hand and hammering with my right. After doing about 10 of them I thought “maybe this isn’t great for the watch”. Due to the shock being transferred through my left hand and wrist. I never baby my Rolex, but this time I second guessed my actions.

Just wondering if this could have caused the sudden “speeding up” of accuracy. Like I said, just looking for opinions, not complaining. Only curious.

I did the same thing years ago with a DJ.
In my case, it just stopped working.

Your watch has an oscillating balance - it swings back and forth with very little input.

If you are doing almost anything, you will affect the amplitude of this oscillation. Winter weather is going to influence it as well.

Yeah I was just curious if hammering in the stakes played a part in the time speeding up. I stored it last night vertically laying on the crown and that seemed to help.

Hammering stakes? WTH? Submariners are designed to be stored in safety deposit boxes and wound one a month.

Perfectly good watch. As someone mentioned, temperature level of winding affects precision. After hammering watch might be wound 100%
